If you learned, at a young age, how to play the game of basketball at Grover ... Then you're probably a 'Townie' ... So to answer your question, yes.

On the women's basketball side I was really disappointed to see Jena Burdette from Eastern Meigs end up signing with Dayton. The girl can play basketball and if she was good enough for UD she was good enough for a rebuilding OU. It would have sparked some local support of Lady Bobcat basketball.

From what I heard from Ohio showed no interest in her.

If that is the case, I would easily put Jenna in my top 3 snubbed list along with Scott Stricklin and Danta Jackson.

You realize Dayton has been close to a top 25 team the last couple of years. Play for a contender or be part of a rebuilding project? Simple choice. Maybe we didn't offer because we didn't have a chance?

Hawaiian Bobcat is spot on! OHIO offered, they simply were not interested. UD women's hoops is way better than where we or most of the MAC is.

In what way was I (or anyone else) assassinating his character?? I'm merely providing observations at what I've seen. It's in no way a knock on him as a person or citizen...just his abilities as an athlete on the field/court of play. He may be a great student, do volunteer work, go to church every Sunday, etc. But you can't deny that how you conduct yourself during the game and with your teammates is important too. That was where many of our frustrations with TT stemmed from.

Coaches have to make these sort of evaluations all the time. It's not "everybody gets a trophy" when it comes to recruiting. They offer some guys, take a pass on others. You have to possess the physical and mental abilities to play the game at the next level.

It is simply MY OPINION that he doesn't have what it takes to be an elite college athlete. You can hold a different opinion and I'm willing to listen. But to come at me like I'm some sort of heretic for my skepticism is childish. We should be able to have an open and honest conversation about all recruits here.

"I realize that his body language and leadership skills are atrocious. He lacked any energy or competitive spirit it seemed...just acted like he'd rather be somewhere else. This is not unusual for him" this is your quote, those comments have nothing to do with his ability, rather his character. You also offer NO examples, just an opinion that assinates the young mans character.

I find this whole "conversation" about a high school junior to be both preposterous and ludicrous.  Quite frankly, I'm surprised that Ted and company haven't deleted the whole thread.  It's quite amazing to me that a bunch of 40 to 60 year old white has been males as far as athleticism goeswho are hiding behind handles of anonymity are  debating and debasing the character of a kid who's in his second semester of studying American history.  At the risk of the pot calling the kettle black, get a life guys and let the kid be.

Regarding Dante Jackson, Timmy simply didn't pursue him because he thought he was "too good" and we wouldn't have a chance.  Rhoadie thought differently but it was TOS's call.  And this after Dante played four years in the Convo in the districts and regionals.

Yes, his character on the field/court...as in during the games. It's not like I'm saying he's a bad person. In fact, I've heard very positive things about him and his family. You have to separate his performance/attitude on the field (which is absolutely relevant to a discussion on his performance at the next level) with talking about his private life or family (which, I would argue, isn't appropriate to discuss here).

To illustrate...TT was, by all accounts, a stand-up guy who we all should be proud of as a student-athlete and fellow Bobcat. Performed well in the classroom, did volunteer work, came from a good family. He did all the right things. Yet many of us were disappointed at how he was conducting himself on the field and the attitudes displayed towards teammates/coaches. We should all be able to agree that on-field performance is very distinct from one's value as a human being. There's a lot more to life than sports.

My initial post was well thought out and based on observing at least 15 AHS football and basketball games this year (as well as in previous years). Am I an expert? Certainly not. But I'd venture to guess I see more AHS events than most who post here. And unlike others, I'm not clouded by a relationship with his family. Just providing my 2 cents, you can take it or leave it. The beauty of this board is that we should be able to have a civil and honest discussion about such things.

And for Alan, yes I see your point. But if we shouldn't discuss high school students at all, would you propose we delete the entire recruiting boards on Bobcat Attack? Most of the talk over there pertains to projecting how these young men will do at the next level. Some of it is positive, some of it is negative. It would hardly be worth discussing if we all took the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality. I believe that discussing one's on-field merits is acceptable. I'd rather not dip into their private lives but there has been plenty of that on the recruiting board as well. Just something to throw out there, but I certainly respect your opinion.

I think you should quit while you're behind. He has no leadership qualities? Hmm, why did Michigan State just check him out?

I'm not trying to get "ahead" at all...just stating my opinion. I realize it's not necessarily a popular opinion among those who want him to be a program-changer for OUr team. But this was definitely a topic of conversation among several of us leaving Logan's gym Friday night.

What I find odd is that I have seen the young man play close to 60 basketball games, over 20 football games - and have only seen exemplify frustration once. That was Friday night versus Warren. And who wouldn't when you watch your competitor go unconscious and score 28 points in the first half alone.

When he got knocked down and pounded by Thurgood Marshall (2012) and Marion Franklin (2013) on the gridiron - he showed no such attitude. He got right back up, took it like a man and continued to fight.

And we are talking about him as a 'football' recruit, correct? So my advice is to evaluate the young man on what he does when he steps between the lines on a Friday night.

Everything he does outside of athletics is impeccable, what he does on a football field is very impressive ... don't go putting a magnifying glass on him in February and say "Ohio should look elsewhere for a QB" because you seen 'bad body language' during a few basketball games.

The irony of this is that tonight I talked to a guy here in Parkersburg who has a daughter that is a standout PG at Parkersburg South HS. She is a sophomore, averages nearly a triple double and leads the #1 ranked (21-0) team in the state of WV. He was wearing a Michigan State jacket because she has already verbally committed to Sparty.

695 is a very persuasive person.  You can bet that young lady about whom he wrote will be wearing a different shade of your green and white soon.

You cOUld look it up.

I believe I saw her play as a freshman in the Alexander tourney at Marietta College.  If this is the same girl, she has massive talents and was recruited well into the early portion of her freshman year.  If Mo has some inside information, this would be a positive addition.  Must be that Boldon/California pipeline??

She is really good.  I don't follow girls/womens basketball at all, but she works out of the same gym that my boys use, so I've seen her play since 6th/7th grade.  Her name is Taryn McCutcheon and she is clearly better than MAC talent.  This is the 3rd or 4th D1 player to come out of Parkersburg South in the last decade or so.  If I was Bolden, I'd start getting cozy with that program.
