Like others, I feel terrible for Ricardo Johnson after his loyalty to the program and all the hard work he has put in over the past several years.

I believe that this is probably the most serious men's basketball injury at Ohio since Jeff Boals blew out his ACL at Eastern Michigan back in 1995. (BTW, I was in the old EMU fieldhouse for that game...)

We have actually been spared a lot of serious injuries over the years.

I was in the training room at the Convo listening to that game. When Boals got hurt, everyone in the Convo was pretty quiet that night.

We did lose a couple point guards to mental issues in the mid-2000's.

BSU had very few from 86-95.....then the orthopedic/sportsmedicine group paid for the right to treat the athletes and had everybody else banned from the locker room. The rest is history 

Interesting phenomenon that started in the pros and trickled down to college. Medical Groups paying for the rights to treat the athletes.

The game loves and rewards those who love and reward the game

I was there as well Jeff. If memory serves the old EMU field house was packed and electric that night. I know people will be shocked to hear a game at EMU was a packed house.

Yeah, the old Read Fieldhouse at EMU was packed that night. It only seated 4500 I think. Wasn't a very attractive facility but they actually drew good crowds back in those days. Ironically, when they built the new place that coincided with their massive drop in attendance.

Interesting point DFC.  I can think of a few others who might have been in that category but not quite the draw - Wally World and Ron Harper come to mind.  Not sure there have been too many others though.  On the other hand with the ability to watch almost any game on your tv or computer screen, will we ever experience that phenomenon in the future?

A blind squirrel even finds a nut every now and then.  He was a starting PG his last year who was a sparkling 56% from the charity stripe.  Brick layer.

Honestly, I think N'dour could pack arena's next season. If we finish this season out on a high note and he keeps averaging 15+ points a game with thunderous dunks, I can see people coming out to see him play. Plus we have a few strong recruits coming in next season.

I always thought that Boals blew out his knee at the Convo and that I was there.

I really remember him getting hurt, the Convo being silent, and my friends and I discussing how it looked season (and career) ending and recollecting about how his previous knee surgery basically brought him to Ohio instead of a "bigger" program (Stanford maybe)? Is it possible that he injured his knee (but not the season ending injury) at the Convo a previous time? 

Kinda concerned about these false memories. Not sure what I was on. I never drank at the Casa though - I assure you.





 



I don't endorse the furry lifestyle, but when the Bobkitten is involved things can change mighty quickly...

Let's go back a few years and remember the days of Nee-Hahn-Frashilla.

On a summer Europe trip Dave Jamerson went down and was flown home early. Operation was in Col's and a success

Dave got the extra year and lit them up for the Green & White. Two things among many that he could do was shoot and eat those burgers..

I wouldn't even know what Ohio University was if it werent for three things:

(1) My high school playing in the Convo for the State Regional Finals in 1996 and 2000
(2) My former girlfriend's sister went there and convinced me to transfer after a visit
(3) My dad taking me to see the "Gary Trent Show" at Kent back in 1995 when I was 10.

Yeah, could have sworn it was at the convo. I remember seeing him on the ground and everyone around just knew it was bad falling dead silent. Wondering what would happen losing the heart and soul of that great team.
