Obviously we need to beat NIU and WMU and it would probably require Miami winning out until then too. But if you figure they go to one G5 campus a year, Ohio/Miami is one of the best matchup options available. Fresno/Boise at Fresno on 11/4 is an option, but is the luster lost on Fresno after their loss to Wyoming? Marshall/JMU is another one, but that's way out in mid-November. Tulane and Memphis don't have great home matchups the rest of the year except that they play each other this weekend, but Gameday is already going to Washington.

And on the 28th, I don't see a slam dunk matchup. Maybe Oregon at Utah. Maybe Duke at Louisville. They could be boring and go to Jacksonville for Georgia vs ho-hum Florida.

Rivalry game, Halloween, division race, long win streaks, new location. There's a lot going for this...

As the guy who first mentioned this as a outside possibility a few weeks ago I obviously say that of course we should! I don't like our odds with one loss, I think we'd have a real shot with zero, but go for it. For this to work the athletic department has to sell Halloween as something different for the broadcast. The University has never been big on using it as a recruiting tool.

If I was a betting man, I'd say they end up at Kansas for the Oklahoma game. Kansas will be inside the Top 20, UO is #3. Plenty of time to fill about it no longer being just a basketball school. Jason Sudeikis or Paul Rudd can swing by and make some picks.

(or Ohio State at Wisconsin. Madison is always a fun time. They'll probably be inside the Top 25. At 6-1)

Oregon at Utah, Georgia at Florida. I think one of those also gets the Fox version of Gameday.

BetMGM is predicting they'll be in Madison.

Because of the logistics I'm sure they've already made their decision. If both teams were undefeated at this point I'm sure Athens would be in the conversation.

BetMGM also mentions Oregon at Utah which was what I thought was most probable. I don't think that they make these decisions until the prior Sunday but I'm sure that they are in contact with several sites about what can happen where and where things can be placed. Colorado vs. Colorado St. wasn't on anyones radar until they upset TCU. I'd guess that if we are on their radar that some sort of discussions would have to start pretty soon if they wouldn't already normally have started. That is probably especially true since they have never been to Athens. But it's probably also hush hush at this point.

I can't remember a time when both Miami and Ohio were the top 3 teams in the MAC at the same time. Especially with the Halloween block party that same day, the atmosphere would be electric.

Unfortunately.... nationwide audiences would probably be scratching their heads at why GameDay, which is supposed to be hosted at the "biggest game" of the week, is traveling to see 2 unranked MAC teams play for a (potential) shot at the conference championship no one outside the MAC cares about?

Don't get me wrong, it would be historic and a lot of fun if it were to come down to Athens, but I think this is a pipe dream.

They went to WMU when they were unbeaten and playing, if I recall, a not so great Buffalo team who they were supposed to easily defeat. They have been to some FCS games. They went to a game in the D3 New England Smalls conference. They don't always go to the "biggest game" on the national stage but sometimes do other locations to vary things up. If we were unbeaten then I don't think this would be crazy unlikely. But we do have a loss so they would have to be interested a whole lot in the Halloween environment for it to happen. So it is in the extremely unlikely category in my mind. But I don't think that it is impossible enough that we can't discuss it.

I'll bet that if Air Force stays unbeaten for a few more weeks that they start strongly considering finding a way to get out there. It wouldn't be the "biggest game" but it would be an unbeaten service academy. It's a different environment so it doesn't have to be the biggest game.

I looked up the Barstool gameday schedule and they are indeed scheduled to be in Madison for the OSU game. That would be pretty funny to see Gameday there as well as there is some very bad blood between the two.

College Gameday makes plenty of "odd" decisions with their host sites. They went to two FCS schools last year. They went to Appalachian State vs Troy in September last year. There was a year where they went to Knoxville then two weeks later went back to Knoxville. It may be a pipe dream, but there is a plausible angle for us to be chosen.

Can tell you they're having the same discussion and dreams at the Miami discussion board site. Game Day would be crazy in Athens any time but especially Halloween weekend. Personally, think it would fabulous for the Redhawks to come on down to beautiful Athens and spoil the Halloween incarcerations...uh I mean celebrations with a big RED WIN! I have family on the Bobbies team and love him to death. However, I've got lotta'skin in the game as was football and track athlete back in the politically incorrect Redskin (old fart!) days. I had honor of beating two of my old HS teammates in football and once in the circle in track. Was on MAC champ teams in both sports and was MAC champ in my event in track.

All that said the rest of the time as an Uncle to a Bobcat I root like hell for the Bobcats to win.

First we have to beat Toledo to have a chance to get it to Athens and that will be a real test. Can't say I feel real confident about Toledo. Before that we've got Western and in the up and down MAC who knows???

Go get 'em next two weeks and looking forward to a real show down on the 28th.

You all have a great discussion board.

Go Bobbies!

They went to Western Michigan when they were ranked top 15 in the country though. When PJ Fleck was a media darling. Row the boat and that.

They've gone to unranked sites less than 10 times since 2013. Twice James Madison (ranked in the FCS). Twice Army-Navy. Three North Dakota State (ranked in the FCS). Harvard-Yale. An HBCU in week 0.

I think theres an angle there, but it would be a very unique situation. Even when they visit unranked teams, it's a service academy, Harvard, or the #1 team in FCS.

See why "Roll Bobbies" is an anathema to any thinking OHIO fan. We are being mocked by a Redchicken with it right here on this board. Now, he appears to be a nice guy and the mocking is being done all in fun, but just saying . . .

By the way, CBSSN has a MAC time slot at 3:30 and the only other game on the 28th is WMU @ EMU.

This is an interesting thought. We'll know something on Monday about time and TV probably. If I am not mistaken, I think ESPN would have first the crack to put the game on ESPNU or somewhere else. If they let us go to CBSSN then that would be another indication that we aren't on their radar. Maybe it isn't the final death blow to all hope but we'd have to consider it that much more unlikely when the odds are pretty out there as they are.

Gotta win first and beating NIU's ground and pound in the wind and rain in DeKalb won't be easy.

GameDay isn't coming to Athens. It's beyond a pipe dream. It's not even in their realm of possibility. If both teams were unbeaten going into the last weekend of the season I could see it, but a midseason matchup featuring two MAC schools with one loss? No way. Where's the juice? Where's the talent? Where's the reason people need to turn the TV on for ESPN to come to Athens? The only people who care about Athens Halloween are people like us.

Go back and look at that 2016 WMU season. Not only were they winning, they were beating the ever living hell out of everybody and had a 1st round draft pick WR in Corey Davis on the roster. That's what sold ESPN. An undefeated team with crazy talent and in the driver's seat for an NY6 bowl. And like it or not they had PJ Fleck whose personality, while it can be annoying, sold ESPN also.

I bet they go to Lawrence, KS if I had to put money on it. Especially if KU beats Oklahoma State this weekend. If not you can probably book the Cocktail Party or some dumb sh*t like Duke at Louisville - the Cards don't play either Clemson or Florida State so an unbeaten Louisville team moves the needle more than Miami at Ohio.

I hope this post ages poorly because I'll fly over there to partake in festivities, but ESPN has proven time and time again they don't give two craps about the MAC.

We should push Barstool to come to Athens since they love MACtion and we are the defending champs of their bowl game. More likely to get them to come here and switch from Madison than ESPN.

They would be the most likely, and probably have the best coverage of the teams - they went to UT last season - but Big Cat went to Wisconsin. I think that one is locked in.

The Convo concourse looks stuck in the 80's. An update is needed.
