Some bias analysis of Lombardi and the NIU offense. In their Boston College game it was apparent that BU did not have a great start to the season and almost lost to Holy Cross in week 2.

NIU LOST to FCS Southern Illinois. Souther Illinois lost to unranked FCS Youngstown State last week 31-3.

If you look at the Toledo game NIU cam back in the 4th quarter after trailing Toledo 35-20 early the fourth quarter. Did Toledo's D relax in the 4th quarter due to their large lead?

Finally the big offensive output against Akron was against a bad Akron defense. Ontario Brown ran for 280 yards on 13 carries (21.5 avg per carry!)

Trying to put some context to NIU's season in which they have been hot and cold as have the teams they have played.

A lot of banter on player stats and offensive schemes. The better RB/QB/Rc, is the one that doesn't give up a turnover this game. I'm trying to be optimistic, however I am always skeptical from my 40 yrs of rooting forOHIO football. Go Bobcats!. (Not Bobbies)

A win in DeKalb feels big to me because it would be a school record 10th MAC regular season win.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

Some more context: Akron's defense probably is bad but they gave up 35 to Kentucky and 29 to Indiana in 4 OTs. It's hard to say how good Antario Brown is - with not very good blocking in the first few games he did very little. For his size I don't think he breaks very many tackles. He has good speed once he gets going but isn't explosive otherwise from what I've seen. Ohio just has to not give him a bunch of room to run. Maybe Brown will surprise me, who knows.

It's possible Toledo's D relaxed but that's a game of what ifs. Ohio won by a lot against BG but they got a pick when the ball slipped out of the BG QB's hand leading to a short field, then got a TD when the ball bounced off a defender right to a Ohio WR. So you can do that kind of comparison all day.

It would also be our first 3-0 start in the MAC and our best overall record through seven games (6-1) since 2012 when we were 7-0, 3-0. It would also make Ohio bowl eligible, the earliest since 2012 (which came on Oct 13th that year).

We will get by.

We will survive.

Just get the dub. At this point it would be neat to draw Cincy in a bowl game. ISU has been pretty solid lately ( just now an OU shout out by the announcers) time to start "getting agitated " Cats fans

I'm just amazed (and annoyed) at how commercial-heavy college football is. Doesn't feel like this game can get any rhythm as it's constantly at a stoppage in play. Would love to know, since game started at 3, how many minutes of commercials there have been. Feels like more than 50%.

Loved the slow pace on offense, running the play clock down, v. Iowa St.

Not loving it too much with under 3 minutes left in first half and having to go length of the field v. NIU.

This is not gonna be easy. Two FGs didn’t help much. We needed one of those to be a TD. The defence has been solid, except for the two big plays.

Albin trying to run out the clock against a 2-win team rather than lighting up the scoreboard… not going well. Another week where we get the early lead and spend the entire game just tying to burn the clock down. Incredible to watch.

Longest play of the game. 15 yards.

NIU is winning a game they have 206 total yards of offense (111 on two plays). They're taking all the shots. Taking the chances. Meanwhile, OU is pounding it up the middle and throwing screens on 3rd down.

Nowinsky can’t keep getting fooled by the same plays.

Would be a really good time for the offense to wake up this half.

Hard to get momentum when we take 0 shots. Last week was the first game this year that we took deep shots.

Not even sure they run deep routes at all anymore. Even if they did it would be a waste of time, but maybe they would open up some lanes for the 4 yard dump passes or delayed hand-offs up the middle..?

I always thought Albin was a mediocre play caller at best, but we've done well in spite of it. Not so much today.

This is game 7. This is what we are. Our offense officially sucks. Better get something going in quarter 4.

we've been effective, but we lack explosiveness across the board. Period. It's nonexistent.

4 points feels insurmountable... for the MAC's #1 offense from last season.

Conservative play-calling and a burn the clock philosophy absolutely killing this team.

Rourke has been inconsistent today bigtime. and there's a pick on a terrible terrible throw. We are done.
