We all know that the ratings from Scout, Rivals, ESPN, and 237 are iffy when it comes to accuracy on MAC-level recruits. Who wants to take a stab at beating them at their own game. Use whatever data you want to make your picks. Watch film, read analyst ratings, listen to the coaches comments, or anything else you want to do. Then, pick which of the recruits will have the biggest impact, and we can come back and review this thread in a few years, and see who is the best evaluator.

1. Which O-lineman will have the biggest impact?
2. Which Back will have the biggest impact?
3. Which WR will have the biggest impact?
4. Which D-lineman or LB will have the biggest impact?
5. Which DB will have the biggest impact?
6. For bonus credit, which player will be the highest draft pick?

Each correct answer is worth 5 points. If your pick is the 2d choice, you get 3 points. "No One" is an acceptable answer if you aren't impressed with any of the players.

Here's what you have to compete with:
1. Rivals - Lowery, Duckworth, Walker, Berger, Layton, Lowery
2. Scout - Lowery, Duckworth, No one, Brumfield, Brunson, Lowery
3. ESPN - Lowery, Duckworth, Walker, No one, No one, Walker
4. 247Sports - McCray, Duckworth, Walker, Berger, Fox, McCray

Here's my pick, which is totally in another direction::
Pruehs, Irons, Brunis, Frueauf (walkon), Layton, Irons

If I wanted to play it safe I could have gone with Walker and Kuhar, but what the heck.

I think Whites speed and elusiveness will get him on the field right way. I believe Fox will be a great corner and Layton will be a great nickel. I believe 12-15 could be difference makers over the next two years. Irons will have to overtake Dorian Brown. Brown passes the eye test as well.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Competition raises everyone's game. It gets you to do extra sprints, sets, reps on your own. I hope the coaches using younger players earlier drives home the point that no one has a spot locked. Should be some serious work going on this spring and fall.

I totally agree with this, by the way. I look forward to seeing Dorian playing this fall, and won't be surprised at all if he is the starter at running back, and Daz is used more in the slot, while Edmond is used as a change of pace back.

Good picks everyone. I thought more would play, though, since there is nothing taken off for wrong answers.

Sure, if you want to guess him, go for it. There are no wrong answers (at least for a few years).

While we wait for the big day tomorrow, I thought I'd do an early scoring of last year's Guru picks:

After one year, here's the way I awarded points:
For Offensive line, I call it Preuhs 5 points, McCray and Lowery 3 points each.
For Back, I'd say 5 points for Ouellette, 3 points for White.
For WR, I'd say 5 points for Walker, 3 for Brunis
For DL/LB, I see no points for anyone, yet, so 5 points for "no one"
For DB, I see 5 points for Layton, 3 points for Nelson
draft - too early, no points yet

Bobcatgeneral 15 - Pruehs, Walker, Layton
Rivals - 13 (Lowery, Walker, No one)
ESPN - 13 (Lowery, Walker, No one)
Me - 13 (Pruehs, Brunis, Layton)
Allen - 10.5 (White, 1/2 pick of Layton, No One)
Scout - 8 (Lowery, No one)
247Sports - 8 (McCray, Walker)
Afos -8 (Lowery, Walker)
TheRealMikeDrake - 5 (Walker)
bigtillyoopsideurhead - 3 (McCray)
