It was indeed funny. I think the best bowl name ever, has already been taken. And, it was a real bowl, only played one year -- the Salad Bowl. It featured our beloved Miami Redskins against the Arizona State Sun Devils, with the boys from Oxford prevailing. I wonder if there's a banner in the Miami stadium proclaiming them the 1951 victors in the Salad Bowl? Lettuce all be as proud as peanuts about that beeting! ESPN did not cancel the New Mexico bowl: they cancelled their agreement with the title sponsor. The one part of the season that ignores the P5/G5 divide but of course its driven by the broadcast windows more than names. You can watch what you want, there’s some interesting seldom seen matchups and the games are as meaningful as most of the regular season games IMO.
