From my perspective, most of D.J. Cooper's passes for assist were exciting because very few 6-1 PGs can make them. He often made the common pass look effortless and the uncommon one look routine.

Yes, he had strong kinetic and spatial intelligence which elite point guards display. Yes, he had a gunslinger's confidence. But, he also has a 6-7 wingspan which is rare at 6-1 and difficult to simulate in practice or adjust for in game conditions. He used this wingspan to his advantage defensively, too. It's no accident he is MAC #1 all time in assists/game and #3 in steals/game.

And even more impressive as I don't believe DJ is anywhere near 6-1. 5-11 at best. I also never heard the 6-7 wingspan measurement, methinks that is also a stretch.

The actual measurement probably is less important than the point that he had a long wingspan for his height which allowed him to get his hands on more balls, creating more deflections and steals, and therefore more turnovers as a defender. Be comfortable that Joe knows his stuff on this one.

Even 5'11" is a stretch.

My son is 6'0" and has a 6'6" wingspan (measured it myself). He's a swimmer so it comes in real handy on the butterfly. But DJ's arms looked even longer in comparison to his body than my son's so I wouldn't be shocked if the measurements were accurate (arms not height).

TK's athletic ability is other-worldly though so he was probably still effective against most high school teams. I don't know his history but I would be absolutely shocked if his high school won any State titles. Would have been interesting to see how Jim Christian would have handled him.

Was curious after you said this so looked it up...His High School went 26-4 and lost in the sweet 16 of the state playoffs. I completely agree that his tactics probably work very well in high school and against weaker opponents.

To the Saul haters that question his recruiting, please keep in mind our current frustration #1 on the roster was about as highly touted as any recruit, having offers from half the MAC, St Bonnie, UTEP, etc.
