Illinois needs to hire some Ohio sports administration grads. Maybe they could run a coaching search without turning it into a bumbling three-ring circus of denials and rejections.

John Groce has not been hired. No press conference today...one was never scheduled by the university. I'm hearing that some Illinois boosters are going apesh*t.

I am beginning to wonder.

I want to think there had to have been something to that 4 pm press conference "announcement" considering it came from a somewhat reputable site, which makes me dream that there indeed may have been 2nd thoughts and/or negotiations from the Ohio side of things.

But it probably is more the telling his own players thing.

This is crazy...for any Cavs fans out there, this reminds me of Izzo watch 2010.  People tracking planes, reading tea leaves, etc.

I've transitioned pretty quickly from awareness to acceptance on this whole matter:

Has Coach done great things for this program and the University: yes.

Were there people on this board that thought Coach was the wrong hire four years ago: yes.

Can we find another coach to do for this program what Coach did for ours, or continue the program's current trajectory: yes.

Do I expect Coach to do what is best for his family in the short and long term: yes.

Would I like to retain Coach for a few more years: yes.

If it means one and done, would I rather see the incremental spend for that year go to a long term benefit such as improving the facilities/infrastructure of the program as a whole, enticing new hires down the road to coach at OHIO and convincing new recruits this program is the right choice for them, as opposed to the spend going to Coach and his family's retirement fund: yes.

No offense intended to Coach, but I'm going to be selfish for OHIO at this point for the long haul.  And $600k can go a long ways to finishing the locker room project and making a downpayment on a practice facility.

Regardless of what Coach decides to do, I hope that everyone here remains as positive about increasing their commitment to ICA in whatever form or fashion they can, because the student athletes have earned that type of increased commitment from us.

The Few, The Proud, The Bobcats!

And for the record, I hate tOSU, and Ricordati and Torgerson are DB's.

"There is no press conference today. There never has been."

It sounds so cryptic, the SID's statement. I imagine a guy with a Russian accent delivering it.

Which is why I would prefer him to go ahead and take it now (assuming he's going to move on "soon") so that Ohio can move on.

you have obviously not listened to the Dakich show before. He is all over the place before he gets back to it. Patience is usually rewarded and sometimes frustrating.

Nope. No decision made on new coach for either men's or women's coach. Media totally jumping gun.
