Glass houses, I really don't think you want to go down this road Old Zone.

In this case the analogy to "glass houses" doesn't hold.  I can think of nothing an Ohio coach in a major ever did that would come close to the infamy of punching an opposing player who had just intercepted your QB's pass.  I'm with you OldZone.

Road doesn't look that bumpy to me. I'm comfortable throwing a few stones. Coach out of control trumps mascot out of control any day.

Are we comparing what Woody did to what The Meigs County Mauler did?

You gotta be kiddin me.

I actually liked Woody Hayes, but I say again:

Is someone saying The Rufus Incident is equal to The Clothesline Sucker Punch?

Out of respect for Frank I refuse to get real dirty with this, but I am pretty sure Woody never drove the wrong way down West Union.  And just like Woody, Frank paid his dues, suffered his consequences and has been able to move on in a positive manner.

Woody had a long record of losing his temper in uncontroable ways -- throwing yard markers across the field, breaking yard markers, throwing microphones back in the face of young reporters, stomping out of press conferences, etc.  Coach Solich has no such reputation and the DUI conviction was the first of his life.  As was said earlier, this is not an apples to apples comparison, unless you allow that one of the apples is a "bad apple."

The BAC threshold for drunk driving is half today what it was in Woody's day.

One of the stories about Woody's driving that I read about was the day he interviewed for the O$U job.  After driving up from FIAMI he pulled into the parking lot and there was only one parking spot which was narrow because of the two cars straddling the spot..  Woody was running close on time and wanted to make the spot work so he pulled the car up to the back bumpers of the two cars and got out of the car to look at how much room he had on either side.  By that point the Athletic Dirctor and others who would be doing the interview spotted Woody in the parking lot. They watched Woody survey the situation and then he leaned into the car and put the car in neutral and then pushed the car into the parking spot since he would not have to open the car door to get out.  He walked up for the interview and as they gave him the job.

I always found it particularly ironic that tOSU fans used to go on an on about how much of a dbag Bobby Knight was...and he graduated from and played for tOSU!  Guess that behavior isn't acceptable if your alum is beating you on a regular basis as the head coach of another team.

The Few, The Proud, The Bobcats!

And for the record, I hate tOSU, and Ricordati and Torgerson are DB's.

Most damning of all, Woody coached in oxford.

My dad was at the game. He said they mentioned "Ohio University" and showed the fight on the scoreboard, and everyone cheered.

I fixed the link. This site tries to take over too much with the rich text editor --

I really wish we could turn it off like you can on every other forum on the planet and just use markup.

Thanks, TB.  It is an interesting story.  I'd be surprised if it made the Columbus Disgrace.  Now, I'm waiting for the video!

They really did a nice job, you know, for a Big 10 band.

that was a clever show. I think the Rufus tackle might have got the loudest cheer from the crowd. We should try to schedule an OOC in the Big House, we'd be treated like heroes. Its that- your enemy's enemy is your friend, thing.
