if this /\/\/\ (only athletes on campus, placed in bubble, etc.) takes place then all those that argue the players shouldn’t be compensated and that getting a free education is their pay, etc etc etc will forever need to shut up as the colleges and NCAA will have proven they view the players not as students or even student athletes but as simply meat in their economic scheme.

The End of College sports is near:

The following quote, which talks about the need for a protective bubble -- at the very least -- to combat COVID-19, comes from the above article as follows: "All classes could go online. In this situation, the only people allowed on campus would be athletes, coaches and other essential team staff members."

WOW! And I thought that going to college was about getting an education? The real problem, in my opinion, is that even contemplating a football season is purely about money, and it has nothing to do with the health, safety, or the good of the University, let alone the welfare of each community connected to each University. I guess that, in reality, there is very little difference between winning at all costs and greed. At the end of the day, who exactly benefits from all of this? Is it the coaches, the schools, the television networks, and the players?

I love sports, but we, in this country, really need to start rethinking our priorities here. I mean, really.

I don't disagree with anything you've said, but I think the drive to have football goes beyond money. I think there is a political aspect and a "cultural identity" aspect. I see the biggest push to play is coming out of the south. Trump states refuse to acknowledge that COVID-19 is as serious and contagious as it really is. Cancelling college football would be a concession that this admin screwed the pooch on handling the pandemic. That doesn't sit well with their perception that they're backing a loser. Secondly, SEC country identifies themselves as football country. Cancelling the season lowers their self-importance.
Why are the other conferences trying to keep it alive? Besides money, their afraid that the SEC will get another leg up on them. All the other P5 conferences are chasing the SEC. If the SEC pulled off a successful season they would just move that much further ahead.

No, I don't have any links to support this position. This is just my perception. Strictly based on my observation of what's going on these days.

Agree IC76! But don't tell the Big 10 folks that. The SEC has 6 of the top 13 rated schools in Athlon' preseason rankings. The Big 10 has 3 of the top 13, with the Big 12 having 2 of the top 14 and PAC 10 and ACC having one each of the top 13. ND was rated in the top 14. Throw in the 2020 recruiting rankings and seven SEC schools ended up in the top 10. Indeed all the other conferences are chasing the SEC.

And the MAC is still playing why? (I know the answer), but makes you scratch your head.

It appears that Boston College game is still on. The ACC released its new schedule model. 10 conference games and one non conference game. The non conference game must be played no earlier than 9/7, must be either a home game or at least played in the ACC team's home state. Their games against Purdue and Holy Cross were already cancelled. They were scheduled to play at Kansas, and maybe Kansas would agree to playing at BC instead, so I don't know there.

Starting August 1 Massachusetts will require anyone coming into the state to either quarantine for 14 days or show a negative covid test result that was administered no more than 72 hours before coming into the state. They also must fill out a travel form. It's likely we could get a team into Massachusetts to play BC but some players/coaches/personnel might have to stay home.

Ohio's quarantine rules require a 14-day quarantine for anyone coming into Ohio from a state that has a 15% or higher increase in covid cases. At the moment, Massachusetts isn't on the list so the Ohio team could get back from Massachusetts without quarantining.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

Many of the states are late to the party.

In addition to the two options Massachusetts has announced, Alaska has had another option. In bound travelers can be tested upon arrival at an Alaska airport, go into quarantine, and wait for results.

These three options have been in effect in Alaska since late spring.
