Correct me if I'm wrong, but Stevie would be the ONLY player familiar with Dustin Ford, wouldn't he?

He did the opposite to Arkley. Said he won't comment on any other jobs. If he was 100% intent on staying, he could easily have stated it this morning.

Here is that blog from Arkley - http://www.athensohiotoday.com/blogs/bobcat_blog/christian-speculation-heating-up/article_893963ba-314a-538a-87dc-5624d855070a.html

He did not officially comment on the job.  He did however say this - "I love, love my job here," he said. "I will say this: I have not — in any way, shape or form — actively pursued any other jobs."

Here we go again...

If this is true, I hope he gets the job. The one "positive" that I thought about Christian, is that he would offer the program some stability....I guess I was mistaken. Give me an up and coming coach that is going to make a deep run in the tournament then jump ship...I like fulling out the NCAA bracket with Ohio in it.

Yep, it seems the more a coach "loves" Ohio and Athens the shorter their stay!

Having one's salary tripled or quadrupled is a good reason to leave though, can't fault that.

"actively pursued any other jobs" meaning he didn't apply but they reached out and interviewed him "earlier this week" as in yesterday? Sunday?

I've seen crazier things happen.

I've always thought this is the best we can hope for at Ohio.  This is our place in the food chain.  We are a stepping stone job and that's it.  There are worse things...many mid major jobs aren't even stepping stones.

I do think it's possible to build a program culture here where there is continuity between coaches.  If or when Coach Christian leaves, it will be interesting to see if we've moved in that direction here at Ohio...

Slam/Dunk...he gets the offer he takes the job.  Who reallyy wants to stay in this Conference if they get the kind of offer BC can make.  It;s a no brainer from a financial and career standpoint.

BC has no where to go but up.  Problem is, they won't be able to go up very far.  In a way it's a win-win situation for him.  BC is so far down that even mediocrity would be an improvement.  And if it doesn't pan out there's plenty of good quality mid-major coaching jobs open every year.  Plus the bump-up in pay.

My concern is how many good players on our roster would bolt if he left this season.  Who came because of JC and who came because it's Ohio?

[To those who saw the Jay Wright story, it's apparently a joke]

That apparently is an April Fools joke.

On a much more serious note, the Boston Globe reports that JC is the frontrunner.  And we all know the Globe never jokes.

Jeff Goodman
Florida Gulf Coast coach Joe Dooley, a former KU assistant, has also emerged as a legit candidate at Boston College, sources told ESPN.

It's called if you toss enough names out there, it's possible you might be right.

Wasn't a fan from day one of this hire. Nice loyalty after 2 years and failing to fully take advantage of a Sweet 16 squad.

If he does go at least we'll get $500,000 from BC.

We cant win. Get a young up and coming coach, he leaves for a payday after success. Get a middle-aged coach with ties to the area and program, he leaves for a payday after marginal results. Next up a 60 year old coach who wants to rest and vest! Maybe we can get Larry Hunter or Danny Nee back!

100 times out of 100 here = Dustin Ford over Kuwik with gun to head. Better pedigree.  Honestly, I don't want anyone from the TOS tree.

Isn't Dustin Ford from the TOS tree originally and was kept on staff by Groce?

Yeah, we all wanted to accomplish more with last year's team, but overall, 49-22 is not "marginal".

I was thinking that as I typed it. I wanna say that the old staff started recruiting Wingfield, Campbell and Setty. Setty's year of sitting out was JC's first year, so yeah it's possible. Wingfield will be gone, but the Campbell and Setty relationships could still be there. I'm not 100% on that.

Oh c'mon. You cannot possibly expect any coach at Ohio in any sport to stay here and turn down an ACC job because of "loyalty." You know what loyalty matters? Loyalty to your family, which will be unquestionably better off with ACC money.

Bingo. The term loyalty in sports only applies to rivalries. Had JC been up for the Miami or Akron's jobs, then yeah, I might be a little worried and ticked off about loyalty.

I'm with you Jeff. I think right now the best Ohio can hope for is to become a new Butler or Xavier where the coaches keep moving on up the ladder. Eventually, I would love for Ohio to get to a point like Gonzaga and keep a Mark Few around, but it's just not feasible with this budget.

Sorry, but I'm not going to be upset over a 3-3 record in the NCAA Tournament and an appearance in the NIT the past 10 years. If the Ohio coaches decide to move on for better things, so be it. Sign up a new one and do it again. The foundation has been laid.
