I don't buy it and think it is just media outlets speculating on potential candidates.  I wouldn't be shocked if JC kicked the tires at least if the salary increase is that much...I'd more be shocked if an ACC school hired a coach with no march success coming off an 11-7 season in the MAC.

1. This is a dead-end job. With Louisville joining the ACC next year, it only gets worse. With VT hiring Buzz Williams, it is now the worst job in the ACC - and it's not even close. I like JC, but if he goes, he'll be back at CMU, Akron, NIU, or some other MAC School in 4 years. Granted his wallet will be a little fatter.

2. I cannot understand the infatuation with Boals. Passed over for every job the past 3 years (including Ohio). Turned down at Fresno. What exactly am I missing? Should it come down to it - I would lobby very hard against this hire. If he was the right guy, he was certainly the right guy 2 years ago when Schaus passed him over.

3. Trust Schaus. The guy has a phenomenal track record hiring coaches (Marshall, Groce, and Christian). In fact, someone should do a documentary if he has to go through the process again. We'll be fine. The question is whether you would top off JC and extend him a few years to keep him. Not sure I would go that far.

In summary. I don't think JC leaves. For a different opportunity - maybe. But this is another repeat of TCU, maybe worse.

Think about it this way, does any coach want to start off their season with 7+ losses (Syracuse, Duke, Pitt, NC St, UNC, Louisville, and Virginia)? That number could easily be 10 or 11 based on the scheduling. No way. Dead end job. Period. End of story. However, money talks and that's the only factor that would validate the move.

When is someone going to post a link to the webcam mounted outside the OU Airport?

There are probably 500 VCU fans here in Richmond monitoring the Richmond airport in person.

CBS Radio's 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston just reported at the top of the hour that the Syracuse and St. Bonnie connections are definitely eliminated, and JC is the front runner for the job.

I agree with Love's analysis, but nothing would shock me. No doubt JC has a very good situation here, but we cannot match the salary or conference situation at BC. If JC thinks he can transform BC into a powerhouse in its conference and is guaranteed a pile of money to attempt it, would it really be that stunning to see him take the opportunity?

I don't see how the BC job is any different than the TCU job he left.

BC has a 22-19 record in the NCAA tourney, and went 7 times from 2000-2009 with Skinner, none under Donahue. Sounds like a coaching issue, not a dead end job issue to me.

Look at it this way, JC can make more in a 4-5 year contract at BC than he can in 10 years here. And he can always come back to the MAC if it doesn't work out.

And it's Boston, which is not a bad gig if you like big cities.

Time will tell, I guess.

JC must see something because Jeff Goodman's article on ESPN says Christian actually interviewed for the job at BC earlier this week.

Let's go further on Boals. I could not be more against this.

I'm not going to sit and research every reasonable job opening that would have been a fit for him the past 2-3 years, but there have been many - and yet he continues to sit in the same seat next to Matta.

BG - Nope
CMU - Nope
NIU - Nope
Miami - Nope
Ohio - Nope
Kent - Nope
Buffalo - Nope
Marshall - Doesn't look like it.
Fresno - Lost.

Look. I don't know the reasons he's getting passed over or rejected, but this is a list with critical mass building. Others clearly see flaws in his potential, to the point they continue to opt for someone different. Just because he played for us, and has been local for a period of time, doesn't mean we should overlook those flaws as well. I wouldn't want to set the program back 5-10 years by hiring someone that could be a career assistant.

If someone put a gun to my head - I would opt for Dustin Ford 10 times out of 10 against Boals.

By the way, my dream of Wojo coaching Ohio just died. He got Marquette. Those who know me, know I lobbied for him after TOS left.

How about Kuwick?  What's your assessment on him as a candidate?

If he does get the job, I assume Willis transfers with him once again.  After all, JC can't really move to Beantown and leave him in Athens, can he?

If this is an April Fool's joke then Anorris must have some huge pull over at ESPN to get them to go with this...

Nobody wants to hear this, but weak sauce.

Look at Schaus's last 3 hires and tell me Kuwik fits the profile. Pass. A Dayton Assistant?? After he's hired a HC at Winthrop, an Assistant at OSU, and a HC at TCU? I don't think so.

Nice guy. Might be a good recruiter. Some guys are just career assistants.

100 times out of 100 here = Dustin Ford over Kuwik with gun to head. Better pedigree.  Honestly, I don't want anyone from the TOS tree.

Wojo would have easily been my first choice. Apparently I was not alone in thinking that.

No one can fault him for interviewing.  Even if he never had intentions of taking the job, it is to his benefit to at least interview.

I think many here believed, and still do, that JC had intentions of coming in here and building something.  But many thought Groce had intentions of doing the same...

Hopefully JC comes out soon and puts this speculation to rest in OUr favor.

I agree that OUr institution should hire proven head coaches, but where has Wojo been the top guy at?  He sits in the same seat at Boals, just a different bench.  I will pass on both.

He did the opposite to Arkley. Said he won't comment on any other jobs. If he was 100% intent on staying, he could easily have stated it this morning.

Seriously?  On what planet is an EXTRA $600K not worth it?  Worst case scenario he's a total flop and is out in 3 years... that's an EXTRA $1.8 MILLION.  Then he simply falls back to some random Mid-Major and makes $400K again until retirement.

I don't care what school it is, when the ACC calls, you go.  Period.

Agreeing with a lot of what Love is saying here. BC is a dead end job. That school hasn't been right since it moved to the ACC. So they had a couple of golden years with Matt Ryan in football and 1-2 in basketball. But the barrell has rolled way down the hill at this point. They'd be better served to go back to the AAC or Big East(basketball)/Independent(football).

And I would take Dustin Ford over Jeff Boals or Kevin Kuwik any day of the week and twice on Sunday. He knows this program a lot better and already has the established relationship with Schaus. Plus guys like Stevie are already familiar with him.

Also, it is rather interesting that he's being considered. Especially over Dambrot, who has owned JC since he came back to the MAC.
