Scout.com is reporting that Ohio has received a verbal from Dayton Stebbins High School OLB Jared Brumfield. Same high school that produced Ian Wells. The 6-3, 218-pounder also had an offer from WMU.

Says OLB, however, I can see the coaches all fighting over this young man.  So many places he could help. I am impressed.  Seems the D needs him most. OLB or safety?

Probably OLB......but if he grows he may end up at DE.

This may be my favorite one yet in this class yet. He's a good RB, but looks to be a great OLB.

A 6-3 218 lbs. junior, I see him putting on too much muscle to play safety. I could be wrong, but Line Backer or DE, depending on future growth/exercise, seems more right.

After having watched his video, he also looks GREAT coming out of the backfield. Downhill runner, runing to daylight, legs keep pumping, damn. Fast and good sized, his senior year growth + a year in a college lifting program...damn.

As I said at the top, I don't see him being a DB. Linebacker, DE, or running back/full back though...yeah, I could support that.

EDIT: Also, a few of those football fields ring a bell from the old central buckeye conference when I was in highschool...Tecumseh and Urbana...used to kick the crap out of my high school

I think we absolutely must put him at OLB. I can see him being effective at 240 pounds, and I think that we have emphasized defensive end plenty in recent recruiting classes. Quite frankly, I can't remember us having many physical specimens playing linebacker since I have been paying attention. Many of our linebackers have been Lee Renfro types. Brumfield looks like he plays with the physicality and nastiness that you mostly find in the SEC.

Although, I saw shades of Eddie George in his offensive highlights.

The young man has not experienced much winning.  He will certainly enjoy the expectation of winning.

I just figured out who this guy reminds me of......and this is a little bit of a weird comparison b/c he's better known for another sport.....O.J. Mayo. I watched Mayo play youth and junior high football when he was growing up. He was bigger than everyone else, faster than everyone else, and a better athlete than everyone else, and he dominated everyone else. I distinctly remember watching him run a QB sneak for a 65 yard touchdown when he was probably 11 or 12, and just tossing tacklers off of him. No real technique....just, "BOOM! Here I come, try to stop me!"

That's what Brumfield reminds me of. He's bigger and faster than everyone else on the field in that video. Blockers barely slow him down, but he's very raw. He's got a big frame that can fill out nicely and I see a lot of upside here, but I think he's going to need to be coached up.

Sheds blocks, good in traffic, physical presence, good blitzer.  If he was going to get bigger, I think it would be worth it to give him a look as the Mike.

Glad we offered him as a OLB, guy has feel for the game, but as a RB he has a high pad level.

They clearly identified his best position. He'll play OLB, or as Doc said, DE if he keeps growing. He has great instincts, and as you said, a feel for the game. He appears to love contact, and he tackles. At either DE or OLB, he's going to be a presence on the field, and he's going to make plays. Watching him for 4 years is going to be fun.
