There's an article in The Post that Quinton Maxwell transferred to DII Indiana University of Pa.

Given what he did at O.U.,and that he's a Grad Transfer,I'm surprised no DI program picked him up.

I saw that as well and, first of all, good luck to Quinton!

It looks like they have one other graduate player on the team at QB when I looked at their roster. Hopefully Maxwell can secure the starting job.

https://iupathletics.com/roster.aspx?roster=227&path=foot...

Also noticed that the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach, Tate Gregory, is an Ohio grad.

https://iupathletics.com/coaches.aspx?rc=703&path=football

And on a side note, the mascot name follows a similar pattern of a team that sucks.

They used to be called the Indians and had to change their team name. They changed it to the Crimson Hawks. Makes me wonder if any other schools out there followed the same pattern.

Didn't Stanford start the name change from Native American Slur to flying red animal trend?

Actually the Stanford Cardinal refers to the color, not the bird, and their mascot is a tree. No, I'm not making that up. Officially, the tree is the mascot of the marching band, but unofficially it is the mascot of the whole university.

Jump to Arkansas State Univ. Indian Family - Indians (1931–2008) The name “Indians” officially became the school's athletic nickname in 1931. Arkansas State officially retired the Indian mascot on February 28, 2008. Now they are the Red Wolves.

Southeast Missouri State University dropped its Indians nickname. The Board of Regents in Cape Girardeau voted to instead make the mascot the Redhawks. The men's sports teams had been called the Indians.

I'm pretty shocked that he dropped that many levels down, considering he has the ability to make throws that only 10-15 other players in the world can.

I wish him luck. I hope he can win the starting job. Otherwise it would be a questionable decision to leave the backup role at a D1 FBS program to be the backup at a quality D2 program.

I'm disappointed that it falls to me to point out that most of us prefer to forget the Gregory coaching tree.

Another history lesson involving the Syracuse Orange (copied from Wikipedia)

In 1931, a Native American warrior known as Nathan March aka: "Saltine Warrior" became the athletic mascot. The name derived from an article describing an archaeological dig on campus allegedly uncovering the artifacts of a Native American warrior.[21] The warrior was called the "Saltine Warrior" because of the abundant salt deposits in the Syracuse, New York area. The article was later revealed to be a hoax, but the mascot remained for next four decades.

In the mid-1950s, the father of a Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity brother owned a cheerleading camp. He made a Saltine Warrior costume for his son to wear at Syracuse football games.[22] Thus began a nearly forty-year tradition of Lambda Chi brothers serving as the university's mascot.

In 1978, the Saltine Warrior was banned by the university as part of the national movement to eliminate Native American motifs, becoming one of the first colleges to do so. The mascot briefly morphed into a Roman warrior, but was eventually replaced unofficially in 1982 by a giant, cartoon-style Orange.

I concur. His philosophies led to my year long suspension when I argued with his dad. 3 running backs (winged-T) on 3rd and freaking 15. Remember it like it was yesterday.

Kutztown 5-1 conference

Next in the conference were Indiana (PA) and California (PA) at 5-2

In 2017, however, they did make the playoffs, and advanced to the final 4.

IUP had a Temple transfer at QB last season, This year their projected starter is Jovan Davis who won a State Title at Steubenville and is the son of former Kent State QB Jose Davis.

The PSAC is a quality DII conference and the just added Shepard who has been the class of the Mountain East Conference. Many DI athletes in those schools.

Over the last 15 years we have started more than a few DII QB's in our offense for multiple games. Maxwell was better than many, in my opinion.
Luckily that has not been the case over the past few years and seems like it will continue into the future.
Other than TT and NR, QB it has not been a source of strength in our program.

You may be correct as TT and Nathan have been the best Ohio has had for many seasons. Don't sleep on Nathan's brother as he will be a good one and Joe M is not chopped liver. The Bobcats are in good shape at QB for the near future.

A few years back California (PA) had Peter Lalich at QB. He was a Blue Chip recruit (Maybe top 10, if I remember correctly) at the position. He bounced around after getting in some trouble while at Virginia, before ending up with the Vulcans.

In 2007, Al Groh would not offer a QB he deemed to short and was interested in playing baseball as well. Groh offered the taller Lalich whose hobby was excessive drinking.

The short QB Russell Wilson just became the highest paid Player in the NFL.

His dad used to send me disguised emails with virus-embedded attachments because I was a moderator here. But when you opened the full email header it listed his Ohio football email address. He didn’t even know to use a fake email address lol.
