Congrats, that is a lot of Cats. Hagan's performance must have carried over from last year. Did Poling get defensive player of the year? Also, AJ should have been first team.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Congratulations to everyone!!!! I definitely could see AJ on first team, and Brad Ellis on 2nd, but hey, they were awarded. I'm glad to see Hagan bounced back...I guess the stats don't lie. Well deserved young men.... despite the negativity, you fought hard.....What God has for you, can't no devil in hell take it away!!!!! GO CATS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sutton Smith of Northern Illinois was Defensive POTY, with Woodside winning both Offensive POTY and Vern Smith Leadership Award. Jason Candle was Coach of the Year.

Two observations:

1. Of the 29 positions named, the West has an overwhelming 22 of the players on the First Team.

2. Zervos is third behind Suder when Zervos scored more points (101 vs. 86), had a higher FG % (83.3 vs. 81.8) and was 8/10 on FG 40+ yards (vs. 2/4 for Suder).

Winning teams get the most awards, so the west should dominate the awards. Toledo had 7 on the first team. Over the season, they were the best team, although on any given night etc,

Listen, I love AJ, but I'm not sure he should be 1st team. Anyway, seniors are generally given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to these things.

Raw MAC rushing stats-rushing yards only
Franklin-SR-235 carries/1228 yards-avg. 5.22 -11TD*
Swanson-SR-210 carries/1139 yards-avg. 5.42-12TD*
Huntley-FR-210 carries/1003 yards-avg. 4.77-3TD
Ward-SO-167 carries/988 yards-avg.5.91-9 TD
AJ-JR-184 carries/980 yards-avg. 5.32-7 TD
Nothing stands out that the selections of first team* were way off.

No devils are attacking the players, we are happy to see them succeed. I was hoping that Poling would get defensive player of the year, he played through hip injuries and led the conference in tackles. I thought Hagan only had 3 pbu's and no int's and missed a lot of tackles which is far below his regular so I was surprised to see him make second team all-conference. I am very happy that Ellis got some recognition, he and A.J. were walk-ons he went from 4th string to all conference, that is a heck of an accomplishment. I thought Pruehs should have been first team all-MAC for the last two years, I thought our punter was at least second team All-MAC, he had a lot of punts inside the 20. God was gracious to our cats.

This is a very good assessment.

Yes, good assessment, but "Can't no devil in hell take it away" is just a saying. just like saying "a hit dog will holler" I thought Poling would get DPOY as well, and Farkas definitely deserved an accolade. I'm not sure of Hagan's stats, but he did get 1 interception against Miami, Ohio (just no return yardage) regardless, we didn't get to make those decisions. Congratulations to "ALL" of these young men. I know you gave it your all.

Hagan's performance was evaluated by the coaches who faced him. And his second team all-MAC selection was voted on by the coaches who had to face him. That's why the coaches decide who the best players were, and not statisticians.

It's good that he made it. He had a down year and still made it. Good for him and all the Cat's.
