* Very solid attendance of over 22000 paid considering the opponent, the heat, and the disappointing loss and interminable length of game vs Texas St. Good student turnout and, though there was a mass exodus of students as usual, it wasn't as bad as what happened vs Texas St.
* Tailgate area seemed better this time.
* However, the traffic pattern and flow to get to the Green Lot beside Peden was beyond weird and horrid. It was changed again since the Texas St game and it made no sense. Trying to make a right from Richland, there were huge signs barricading the way saying Road Closed. However, I took it upon myself to keep driving past these signs, maneuver past the concrete barricades, and was able to enter the Green Lot. Personnel working there were frustrated as well. The whole scenario seemed to make no sense.
* I had two kids with me today and they liked the inflatables for older kids. Enhanced their experience.
* Crowd wasn't loud but seemed interested in what was happening on field.
* PA system actually working, so we could hear the melodious tones of Sweet Lou and the refs.
* 110 performances were great today.
* We were able to get to concessions quickly.

No problem with Richland traffic for us at 1:25. Came off the highway, through the round about and into the right lane and then right toward the stadium green lot. Regulars will get it soon enough - special weekends like Parents and Homecoming may be a tad more challenging. No buzz at all in the stadium. The applause for the band was the loudest thing all day. Hard to believe we've had two blazing hot Saturdays. Hopefully things will cool down for Homecoming. Side note. Now I know why we never get there much before kickoff. 30 minutes of horrid rap "music" will keep us in the parking lot till game time from now on.

But, you missed one third-down stand-up opportunity late the first half! ;-) I think you may have gone out for refreshments, or something, 'cause you weren't even in your seat. Need to stay focused more as we get into the MAC season. ;-)

Edit: Did you know that because we are the only two standing up for nearly every defensive third-down in our two sections that my wife's nickname for you is "Standup Jeff"?

The entry to Green Lot is a bit clustered. First you see signs that say get Green Lot go to left lane, then yards later the opposite (who "fact checks" this stuff that gets printed?). I ignored and stayed in right lane knowing what made sense - Damn the torpedoes. Then you have to wave your Green Lot pass a couple times to OSHP and OUPD - then finally get into the lot.

The student exodus end of half was as MASS as ever. The essentially NON EXISTENT support from the tower side with NOISE (or any other - what the hell else other could there be than noise) was as PATHETIC as ever.. Tower side noise support SUCKS (how else can you describe Absolutely NOTHING other than SUCKS?)

The 110 (220 or whatever it really is now) half show was pretty good. The "slow" tune was great/very impressive/expressive. The "dancing" - a LOT less impressive than last several years - maybe because just not as great current "pop/hit" tune to ride with, generate excitement about vs last several years? Looked kinda "half-assed" to me.....

EDIT - Add "predictable" based on prior shows and my "dancing" comments. Would be good to see some "innovation" - maybe for Homecoming? The "lines" seem to be less "snappy/straight" also, not that that is a hallmark of the 110 style, but Not Sharp is seen as Not Sharp - that could be on the squad leaders (I know a thing or two about this - ask me if you wanna know more)

I'll say it again, tower side of the stadium is a like a horde of rotting corpses, glued to their seats. it's so pathetic how little atmosphere there is in that stadium.

Ohio game admin needs to take a listen (again) to the floor speakers that we heard at Tenn. These large portable speakers pick up the band music and crowd noise and pipe it right back into the crowd from ground level. This could really make a difference in game atmosphere at Peden. The student side does not get to hear the full effect of the 110 because they are playing directly AWAY from the student side. Tenn has solved this problem with their awesome portable sound system. It really makes a difference in getting, and keeping the crowd involved in the game.
Hopefully our folks took notes in Knoxville.

It appeared to me the 110 was more annoyed with it than impressed with it.

I was at Tenn and this aspect of the experience was horrible! They do the same thing at Virginia Tech and to me, it really takes away from an organic college football atmosphere. Why even have the band at all if you're just going to play what sounds like a soundtrack of the fight song over the sound system?!

I thought that piping in crowd noise or the band over speakers was against the rules? I seem to remember someone (I believe Boise State) getting in trouble for this. Has that changed??
