Respectfully disagree.

While I'm not saying this year is total failure because we didn't win MACC....it's not a total success because we went 8-4 and won at NIU.

That 3-game stretch cannot be erased from my mind. We were embarrassed when it counted most. As a legit MAC East contender, Ohio got drubbed by 35, 35 & 38 points.

That's troubling to me....especially when I see what the team is capable of when it gets a win like the NIU game and looks capable on offense vs Kent/Ball with a lot of the same personnel.

Why does it work for those three games and not for WMU, UB & BG?

That's where I'm perplexed.

I think this has been a roller-coaster season that I'm grateful finished on a rise and at 8-4. A bowl win would be great.

But I'll still be a little worried going forward, wondering if we're really a MACC caliber program if we can't be consistent when it matters

Some people can erase the three game stretch of stank. Or, at least refuse to acknowledge it.

For instance, Bcat2 sure wasn't around these parts much during that period.

Then again, when you live in a fantasy world, I guess you can exclude the heart of our season. (Gimmes against FCS, miami, and the other dregs of the MAC don't count. So, the games against Beefs, WMU, BG are north of 50% of the heart of the schedule.)

Nobody on here erases or refuses to acknowledge the losses. They happened. There are multiple reasons that they happened, but they don't include that somehow the coaches forgot how to coach or because they played the wrong players.

Some people, like myself, can move on, choosing to look forward instead of wallowing in the past. What a sad state to live in, concentrating on things that you can't do a darn thing about, trying to prove how smart you are.

When something good happens, like the last three games or a win against Marshall or even a "a dreg", they somehow don't count.

Whatever floats your boat.

The team sets out to win the MAC every year not be mediocre, but they did make the most the year at the end. The fans want to burn couches because we beat NIU, the fans need to expect more of our team. Go Cats

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Nobody's burning couches. Nobody wants to burn couches. A handful of people on BA.com are congratulatory of a good win. Nothing more. Nothing less.

And, nobody's celebrating mediocrity either. They did pretty well this year. Again, a few people on BA.com recognize that and offer their congratulations. Doing so does not diminish the fans' desire for a MAC Championship. It doesn't mean those people don't value a Championship. It doesn't mean you and a few other are more "in touch" with the true goal of the season.

It's a college team. They're a bunch of kids playing football. They had a good win. That's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. In my world, you offer congrats and you move on to the next thing.

It's comments like this that are absurd.

Actually, the likes of Bcat2 disappeared, failed to acknowledge the three game stank.

The last 3 wins were good (though no one can claim kents and Ball are very good..ugh). But consideration of the overall main goal (MACC) and our performance in the games that determined our chance to MACC should be something this coaching staff is held accountable--especially in light of failure to MACC once in 11 years.

Again, it's pure math. 13 teams in league. No MACC in 11 years begins to mean this coaching staff is less than average. (Zero is less than one for those of you who aren't so numeric.)

OCF--We did get it done against a good team on your birthday.

But, too little, too late.

Well Monroe, the LSU administration feels the same way you do. LSU's not winning the SECC this year, so they're about to can a coach who's only won 80% of his games and a national championship. #LSUMAKINGHUGEMISTAKE

In the last 11 years Akron, Miami, and Buffalo have won MAC Championships. By your logic we can conclude those teams have better coaching staffs than MAC teams without MAC championships during that period. Therefore Akron, Miami, and Buffalo currently have better coaching staffs than Ohio and WMU.

It's pure math.

This last part pretty well sums it up and I agree 100%. Way to distill it down to what it really is.

I've said this repeatedly. The standard at OHIO is extremely lax. Tell me how long SOlich and staff would have lasted at a serious football program given with the record over the last 4 years.

I blame the refs for the loss. And the Toledo fans with their NIU voodoo dolls. And Obama. And quantum entanglement.

Seriously, good win for Ohio. I think NIU was both outplayed and outcoached. And now we fall over backwards into a MACC game with our new freshman QB playing against BG. I wasn't optimistic about that before Hare got injured, never mind Graham. Seems like Toledo matches up better against them for some reason.

Anyway, good luck in your bowl game!

Global Warming. Thank you for the gracious post. Get your DT back and things get better. Your DBs match up better vs BG's passing than your dinged up DL did vs Ohio's running. NIU handled BG last year. I expect a similar result this year. Best of luck.

True. One of highest paid coaches in his league should have a title to show for the big pay day.

A 17-15 conference record the last four years is exactly what it looks like....above average....but not great
