Most regulars on this board have read at some point about Football Passport or Basketball Passport, and may even be aware of Hardball Passport. (Puck Passport debuts in two weeks.) The sites were built to allow fans to log all the games they have attended and functions as (their wording here) "a stadium junkie's ultimate dream site: a virtual shoebox of ticket stubs, bucket lists, arena-going challenges, personal stats and trip planning."

I love the sites. LOVE them. And I know a decent handful of you have used them, as I see Peden Stadium and the Convo listed highly in the rankings of venues "checked in" at.

Well, the sites are in some danger. There's actually just one main guy behind them, Peter Robert Casey, and I've gotten to know him quite well through numerous emails back and forth. (I got to meet him at the Final Four this year.) He has been losing thousands of his own dollars each year and needs a way to fund the sites, at least for next year, as he tries to figure out how to make them sustainable.

He has posted an open letter on the sites explaining how he needs help with 2016 funding: http://fbpassport.com/support

If you love the sites like I do, please consider a donation. You'll see I just sent in $400 (PayPal took $12 in fees, ugh). And if you've never checked out the sites, give them a look. You can start here: http://sportspassport.co /

I'd be happy to answer any questions about the sites. They're my absolute favorite websites. Thanks for listening!

These are cool sites, but how much I play around with them is limited because I can't see other users' full games list, nor do I know how I can share mine. I have found profiles from several of us on BA, but I would love to see bornacatfan's extensive list, for example, and I don't see how I can.

I have brought that up to the founder/owner before, and he has talked about trying to establish that functionality at some point. I think it has taken so much of this guy's time to keep things running, fix bugs, and continue to build out the sports (basketball, then football, then baseball, and now hockey) that he hasn't revisited that idea.

I'll mention it to him again. I email with Peter quite often. Thanks for the thought!

FYI, there has been $3,606 of the needed $10,000 raised in the first two days. Sounds like a lot, but the owner put up $1,000 of his own money.

Since all Sports Passport users got an email yesterday, I think most of the people who are emotionally invested have probably already donated -- or decided not to. If you're on the fence, please give!

Shabamon,

I heard back from the founder/owner, Peter, and he said he will speak to his developer again about trying to build in that functionality. Fingers crossed that it can happen. I definitely agree that it'd be cool to see!

Looks like these sites have been combined into one (www.sportspassport.com ) and is sponsored by New York Life, so it appears they got the funding they needed. It looks like users can share their info over social media but there still is no optimal way to hyperlink to a site like this. It's not perfect, but it is an improvement over where the site was a few years ago.

Hey, thanks for the bump on this post. Yes, funding came in -- and the sponsorship helped the site. The greatly unfortunate part is that ServerAxis, with which Sports Passport had contracted to house its servers, essentially shut down and went AWOL about 10 months ago, meaning the guy who runs this site had to start over. And worse, people lost the data they had entered.

Good news is that he had been working on a site redesign, so when he relaunched the sites (now one comprehensive site with all sports included), it had a fresh new look and added functionality. In fact, he's about to update the site in about a month with even more features and functions.

I still greatly encourage people to try out the site if they haven't before. It is so much fun. To ease any concerns, the owner now keeps his data with multiple server companies (so he'll never have a possible outage again), and there's an ability to download all your data from the site as well.

Long live Sports Passport! http://www.sportspassport.com

I got an email last week telling me the developers have made a number of improvements recently. The most notable change is the one I've suggested from the beginning: the ability to share my list with others. So I've linked mine below. I didn't even try with baseball since those games are too random for me to remember. There are probably a few Miami football and basketball games from my childhood I'm omitting and I know I went to a Xavier game back when they were still in the Gardens, but alas.

The site is not user friendly if you want to put in complete seasons. I like the idea of the site, I just don't see using it much if it takes this much work to put multiple games in.
