I may have missed it, but what is the MAC and more specifically Ohio doing about cost of attendance? I see that most Mtn West schools are going to be paying $3000-$5000 per year to full ride athletes. The cost of competing is going up as expected.

The MAC is doing what they do best: nothing.

Honestly, I don't know. But I wouldn't be surprised.

The MAC in October announced it would support cost of attendance.

It reiterated its position in January: http://www.mac-sports.com/news/2015/1/18/FB_0118153038.aspx

Thanks, Ted, I couldn't quite remember what had been said. Old age, I guess.

Here is the key line:

We will support the legislation that redefines an athletics grant-in-aid to include the cost of attendance."

What it doesn't say though is that they will fund it. Big difference. Personally I don't support this on a unilateral basis. I think it should be need based.

I'm not sure that there is a big difference. I would assume that when they say "support" that they are inferring that they will do it in practice. Why would they act like that they were supporting it without backing it up? That charade would become obvious pretty quickly.

This will gobble up some of the new revenue stream from the playoff system.
