I like the defender's ill-fated attempt at a Superman dive tackle towards the end of the long TD run by AJ. That was quite comical.

Also, where's the excitement after a big play is made? Jordan Reid makes an amazing catch and only one guy, the guy who threw him the ball, congratulates him. Almost the same thing happened on AJ's 1st TD. You guys just scored a TD! GET UP!

I've never known Ohio to be a team that gets "hype" like an LSU or even Temple under Al Golden. We've always seemed to keep ourselves a bit reserved. Maybe it's a reflection of the coach.

I guess that's fine. They kind of have an "act like you've been there before" mentality. But still, every once in a while it would be nice to see the guys jazzed up after a big play. I don't care who the opponent is. Don't have to go all "Yaz game winning kick" excited, but show me something.

I agree that it was comical, but just to be clear, he was not attempting a tackle; he was attempting to strip the ball.

With 2 polynesians on the team, I'm guessing the war chants before the game are pretty much standard?

I've been watchin some of the highlight reels and of course I was at the game....and I still can't get over the job that the 3 true freshman OL guys are doin. I specifically watched 74 McCray since he is a Scioto County lad and he not only pass protected but he pancaked some dudes....and at 6'5'-325 he should. Louisville had offered him a schollie than pulled it. Loved what Frankie said about him at a home visit to Minford down SR 139 (I lived on that road)....when asked about his potential Frankie said yeah he's big. Louisville's loss and OUr gain....and he did say that he thought he could play right away....for sure.

And, people keep telling me we do not need 3-star recruits. Give me 10 OL 3-star guys in the program like this one someday, please!

There will always be examples where the ratings were accurate, like McCray, and ones where the ratings were totally wrong, like OUellette. The question is, is there a strong correlation? I say that the kinds of 2 and 3 star players that Ohio gets are generally either high 2-star or low 3-star players, and there is very little difference. Let's look at the last two classes.

For the 2014, there is very little correlation. 50% of the six players who got at least one 3-star rating have played (Lowery, McCray, Walker), while the other 50% haven't played yet (Dudziak, Duckworth, Connor Brown). Among the 13 that did not get any three star ratings six, or 44% have played.

If you go back to the 2013 class, you actually find a strong inverse correlation. The six players who had at least one 3-star rating were Wyatt, Alexander, Murdock, Quallen, Morgan, and Cedric Brown. Of these six, none are starters, and only Morgan and Alexander are listed on the two-deep. Among the 12 players that got no 3-star ratings, you find Basham, Mangen, Cope, Poling, and Sayles who are starting, plus Wood, who would be starting if he wasn't hurt.

For me the bottom line is that Ohio needs more good players, whether they are rated 3 stars (like McCray) or 2 stars (like Pruehs).

Not saying Ohio does not need McCray or Lowery for that matter, but, if Ohio only needed 3 star recruits Ohio would never had Mitchell, Carrie, Brazill, Pruehs, Poling or Ouellette. Would you settle for 10 OL two star guys like Pruehs? I would. Thank God the coaches do their own evaluations. Every year there are countless highly rated high school stars who do not live up to their 3/4/5 star billing. CMU was the only school to offer Eric Fisher. Bet they are glad they were digging for more than stars during recruiting. He had two. Turned into the best of the 2009 class even though the Gods who give stars could not see it. Ohio does need McCray and Lowery, but, not because the powers that be blessed them with more stars than Mitchell, Carrie, Brazill, Pruehs, Poling or Ouellette. Sooo much more to it than stars.
