If we want a big from a power program, here's one. Mark Donnal out of Monclova, OH (Anthony Wayne High School), grad transfer from Michigan. Had interest from a bunch of Big Ten programs and Butler out of high school. Toledo also threw an offer at him. Coached by Dan Dakich in AAU ball. FWIW, Dakich's son Andrew is also available for grad transfer out of Michigan.

Depending on what service you trust, he was either a 3 or 4 star and was in ESPN's Top 100 for his class.

Another thing: Sports Management major in undergrad. Let's get that Ohio Sports Ad team up there to recruit him!

He would be a very good get as long as we use him right. If we make him exclusively a 3 point shooter than he will not be as much of a benefit.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

From what I've heard up in NW Ohio is that Toledo will be the landing spot for him.

Interesting that his AAU coach was Dan Dakich. We have a number of AAU coaches in our area that used to be players (Jerrod Mustaf, Mark Alarie, Byron Mouton, Etan Thomas, Walt Williams) but have not seen any ex-coaches other than a fill-in one-game stint by Mark Turgeon.

Would you take Andrew Dakich if it meant we also got Donnal for a year? It sounds like that is what Toledo is trying to do. I wonder if it would make sense for us to offer that too.

I would, Dakich would be a decent backup and Donnal could start. They both would be done next year, meaning we could sign more prospects during the early signing period.

Not only that, would help significantly balance the classes instead of an out of whack scholly situation, plus get the praises of another TV Analyst like we did with Kellogg.

Why not? The football team gets a Michigan grad transfer almost every year, why shouldn't the basketball team? 😜

I'd take both. Donnal by himself or Dakich by himself.

Donnal wasn't a star at Michigan, but he contributed each of the last two years and seems to fit our style pretty well. One year is the perfect timeframe for one of these roster spots with all the youth we have in the post.

Dakich barely played at all at Michigan. This wouldn't be a Big 10 transfer who comes in and lights the MAC on fire... But he is the son of a coach and has 3 years at a quality basketball program. We need someone next year who can spell Simmons at PG. This sounds like the perfect guy to come in and instantly pick-up our offense while providing much needed depth.

If worst case scenario happens and we have a major injury, Dakich can become Ohio's Stilman White, leading us to a Sweet 16 victory.

I've seen crazier things happen.
