I really, truly hope that we can get Jayvon Graves from St. V as our point guard for 17 and I am starting like this Justyn Hamilton as well for the other schollie as a 4-5 guy. I think it would be amazing to have a killer lineup in a few years with Culver, Hamilton, Darty, Simmons and Gareri/Carter. It would be long and athletic and give us something we simply haven't had at OU in a while.

My sentiment exactly, Bobcat 1998. You posted what I was going to post. We definitely need a point guard and we're not going to have a lot of length in the post after Tony And Wadley are gone. I've liked what I've seen and read about Justyn Hamilton for a year now. He looks like one of those guys who has the length, athleticism and skill set to mature into someone special in time. The wildcard in our future might be Ellis Dozier, who very few people seem to have a read on. This is the type of project I like our coaches to take a chance on; someone who may not be ready to contribute right away, but could become a significant factor down the line, hopefully for at least two seasons. Ellis really didn't need to contribute last season or this season with Tony and Wadley still here. If he's ready to play consistent minutes next season, that gives us three seasons of a 6-9 player with length and shooting ability.

we have two plus Gareri.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Gareri, Carter, Dozier, Taylor are all going to fight for minutes. Three of them are 3* recruits. I think the dire "need" for a post player isn't as huge as some think, but there's a lot to be proven by Taylor, Carter, Dozier to back my statement up. It also depends on the direction Saul chooses to go with style of play.

The PG is vital. The use of the that last scholly is a different sort of story. There might be a transfer that fits for the late signing period. James Gollon and Ellis Dozier might prove to be very good players and change the picture of what is going to happen with the PG and post players they're recruiting.

One thing is for sure - exciting times in The Convo have returned after a brief down spell.

I think that ultimately Gollon will be fine. I don't think it will be this year as he will learn and seems like a young man who will drink in everything he can while providing a spark and some shooting (more than last year). It is Dozier that intrigues me. I know that how someone looks in warmups and goofing off before warmups doesn't matter but after watching him during the Cats' pre-game dunk-offs and when they're running through shooting drills and drop step drills he seemed like a high flier (more than I envisioned). He has solid hops and body control. I am really excited to see what he can do and I really hope that Wad and Khari are ready to contribute regularly. Wad had a great start and rough end to the year and Khari had a great set of minutes to end the year.

My hope for Wadley and Khari is that they're healthy for the whole year so that they get to show what they can do without the health problems that have plagued them. The key with Wadley is to keep him from wearing down by mid February. The early season version of Wadley would be a big asset off the bench in March.

I'm really anxious to see how Gollon, Dozier, and Carter/Culver develop and contribute. They'll be key to this team's success this year.

I want Graves. Definitely need one point in this class and he is a good one. Grabbing Graves and Gareri from right under Dambrot's nose would be wonderful.

If it isn't Graves, I'm not worried. Saul is piecing this together perfectly.

I've seen crazier things happen.

I'll have to do some research on the two, but Hollowell intrigues me more than Graves at the moment. I suppose the Big 12 offer has a little to do with it.

So now we're looking at one scholly left. I must say, having two 2017 commits nailed down before August is something I'm finding impressive. And we're not just talking about two so-so commits here. We're talking two kids that were either highly rated by scouting services, or being given interest from high major programs. Well done Saul Ball!

That aside, who do we think will end up being the final commit?

I hope it's Justyn Hamilton. You never know about how kids will develop. But with his athleticism at 6-10, he appears to have a very high ceiling. Depaul must agree, as I saw on another post where Justyn just received an offer there.

I honestly hope it's Graves or Hollowell, but I'm of a different line of thinking than some because I believe in great guard play getting a team farther than anything else.

That said, I kinda hope they wait a little while to have a feel in real games for how some of the guys they already have are progressing. If one among Carter/Dozier aren't progressing, then a big is far more important. If they are, I'd be continuing after Graves because Butler seems like a really capable combo guard based on reports/videos.

What if Kaminski is granted another year? Then we have no spots?

The way they're going after bigs, I imagine that ship has probably sailed.

True. Had not heard anything lately, assumed it wasn't likely with nothing said on subject in awhile.
