This is absolutely amazing considering we don't even have an 18 hole course.

Maybe a referral back to the party school thread and why students (and parents) abide is in order. We offer a first rate college experience at good ol' OU.

That's a good get for the program.

BTW, what ever happened to the 18 hole golf course planned in Athens? When I was a Senior (1995) I did a marketing project for that retirement/golf/senior community and I thought they had broken ground on the course. I always thought the community could support a decent 18 hole course. The Parkersburg/Marietta area has five 18 hole public courses, two 18-hole private country clubs, one 9 hole course and a 9 hole par three course. Athens is missing out.

No kidding. They did layout the course and began constructing holes. I actually put money down on a lot to build a home out there. One day I was talking with the project manager in his office and he got a call from the developer. It went something like this - "I suppose we could share a cart path between 15 and 17." Sharing cart paths - they were in financial trouble. The next day I got my deposit back and there still is no course. What also killed the project were the folks who thought the golf course chemicals would pollute our water supply. Check out the comments that someone posted in another thread about the master plan for OU. One comment called the OU course "elitist." Many academics and I'll use the word, tree huggers, have no appreciation for golf. We talked about the value of a liberal arts curriculum earlier - I learned a ton of life lessons on the public golf courses in Akron playing with my dad.
