First, for all you Bobcat Jarheads, happy USMC birthday today! Semper Fi! ((OCF might have trained with the Corps for an hour or two on the oil tender, but he still remains a swabbie squid.))

Next, for all Bobcat veterans, have a good and safe Veterans Day tomorrow. Thank you all for your service, and that extends to my pal OCF, and for all my Viet Nam bros, welcome home.

We don't get Veteran's Day off here... but we do get Columbus Day. Kinda messed up.

Thanks, old grunt, for the remembering all the vets, including the Marines. It was actually about three months that I trained with the USMC, but to tell the truth I don't remember much other than one really intense gunnery sergeant who thought I was Gomer Pyle.

JSF, you really should get off for Leif Erikson Day:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leif_Erikson_Day

I used a common Anglicized spelling above. The Icelandic spelling is: Leifur Eiriksson. I will have to admit to some prejudice here as when my youngest daughter participated in the Snorri Program back in 2003, I think it was, I discovered that I'm a third cousin, 30 times removed, from the old explorer. The Snorri Program is for North Americans of Icelandic descent and is named after the first European to be born in the New World -- Snorri Thorfinnsson (b. circa 1005) in Vinland (Newfoundland).
