Close home loss to NIU. They weathered every run we threw at them. I noticed we had five players not dress, including McClure. Fantroy was back at least.

McClure is a huge loss. I think we win this game if we have her. Alper tried to pick up a lot of slack in the scoring, as she played a lot more than usual but went 1/6 three. Tabeling also went 1/6. Bad night for that. The other four who didn't dress aren't a huge loss in-game, as they didn't really have major roles.

Curious on the thought process. On the men’s side scholarship players not playing is a miss. On this side it’s not a loss?

I was just speaking with respect to their playing time when they were dressed, not that it's not disappointing they aren't contributing more on the court.

Cassidy Lafler was in a boot today. She'd been getting ten solid post minutes. Don't know what's up with McClure. Didn't even notice her on the bench.

Solid win today against a conference foe with a similar record. Somewhat like the men's game, the final score wasn't fully indicative of the level of control the ladies had on the game.

An opportunity to end the month on a four-game winning streak exists, with the toughest matchup 9-9 Buffalo at home on the 31st.

Ladies with a 10 point win at CMU and are 1 win away from their previous year MAC win total. CMU is not good, and they showed it with 33 turnovers. Most amazingly, Ohio was outrebounded 41-16...and still managed to win easily. You don't see a lot of victories with a -25 rebounding night.

It's funny how those two stats evened out the game. We finish with just one more field goal attempt than they did.

CMU really fell from their perch atop the MAC quickly. They had some really great seasons not that long ago. 2019: 23 wins (16-2 in MAC). 2020: 18 wins. Since 2020: 19 wins COMBINED. Heck of a tumble.

Lady Bobcats are really, really young but Boldon could be building something pretty decent. He just needs some height, depth, luck (lots of injuries this year) and loyalty from current players.

For some reason, he never seems to recruit much height.

Lady Cats dominate Miami for third straight win. Still without 2 key starters but they stepped up. 4-4 in league now.

Down to only seven rotation players left.

Bailey Tabeling got her first start and scored 20.

Speaking of Miami, as a late 2000s Ozoner it's so funny to see that big Styrofoam brick, that was originally a Marching 110 free throw distraction prop from when they were behind the basket, now used as an intra-department beat Miami trophy.

How can this team keep getting literally half the team injured every single year?

I admit to not watching hardly any live action for this team this year but Bailey Tabeling looks like she is going to be an assasin.

So when do we ask the question of is it the coaches or the medical staff? Seemed to be a similar theme under Randall too.....

You think the medical staff is doing a Tonya Harding back by the water fountains in the four corners of the Convo? Maybe it's the fact that OHIO invest the fewest dollars on ATC's and Physicians of any school in the MAC? Some MAC schools have more than double the staff that OHIO has. Think that makes a difference?

Ohio has dropped three straight by double digits. They are, however, still eighth in the MAC standings and all of the conference wins have come against teams 9-12. After the game this weekend vs Texas State (BOBCATS!), they play four straight against teams higher in the standings followed by three straight against teams they've already defeated to close the regular season. Win those last three like you should and steal one of the other four (fat chance, they all beat Ohio by double digits already) and that ought to be enough for Cleveland. Like we said in 2020 with the men, it will be huge for this group just to get to Cleveland. Find. A. Way.

Fortunately it looks like Watkins and McClure are back to health as they both played last night at BG. 10 players got in plus I think Baxter is available. Seems we have "only" three players out with injuries at the moment. It also seems this team now belongs to the underclassmen. Mace and Guice are not the offensive weapons one may have thought they could be this year. I think they both have another year left if they choose, but I bet they both pack it up.

Like you said, there is a very good chance Ohio moves to 4-11 and finishes 7-11. I actually think they don't even need to steal one of those 4 underdog games...I bet 7-11 gets an 8 seed especially seeing how we will have tiebreakers over those other bottom dwellers.

The next 3 would be an absolute shock if they win any of them, but WMU at home is a good chance at a victory and maybe they can get to 8-10.

So you saying that the MAC Women's basketball is very competitive?

They've been plagued by bad quarters all year. The Buffalo loss they got obliterated in the 3rd quarter and lost the game by double figures even though they collectively outscored Buffalo in quarters 1-2-4. In their last game, it was the 2nd quarter, BG outscored them 18-4.

They're still a very young team and I like a lot of the pieces they have brought in. If they stick around for another year or two, I think they'll be a pretty solid MAC team. I still think they need some size, but as many others have said over the Bob years, he doesn't seem to recruit many post players.

The Bobcats steal one against a higher seed and get their biggest win of the season, knocking off third place Kent State by two. McClure goes for 26 (career high?) and Dennis goes for 14 (career high confirmed). They gave up 18 second chance points and are still not a smart passing team, but they shot very well from every level and just edged out the turnover battle.

Ohio is still eighth in the standings but with Miami and Akron losing tonight, they are a game ahead of both and hold tiebreaker against both.

Bob has to do something about getting capable size on the roster. 18 Kent offensive rebounds to 25 Ohio defensive rebounds. It's a glaring weakness every night. You're going to gas your team, who is already short-handed, asking them to defend a possession where the opponent gets two or three cracks at it.

I thought they played 36 really good minutes of basketball...then completely took their foot off the gas with 4 minutes to play in favor of bleeding clock. Yes, they won by 2, but they were very fortunate to hang on. McClure was awesome and Dennis hit some big shots. Tabeling didn't score a ton but hit a huge 3, also. But dang, I wish they had stayed at least a bit aggressive for 2 more minutes. If not for a 50/50 call on a Kent charge and a Kent miss at the horn, Ohio would have blown a 10 point 4th quarter lead at home.

And yes, the rebounding issue is obvious. I've said it for years, Bob's teams always seem to lack size/rebounding. I get it if you want a perimeter oriented team, but there needs to be at least some measure of rebounding on the floor. Kent was a big team that hammered them on the glass, but the rebounding and size deficit has been there for a while for the ladies.

No bad quarters in this one.

Nice job by Kaylee Bambule. Helped set the team up in some key moments.

Ohio "steals" another one, knocking off WMU 67-64. Dennis drains a corner three to break a tie under ten seconds and then Monica Williams with a two hand rejection of Western's three point attempt at the other end. Mace didn't dress.

Akron loses, so Ohio is two ahead of them. Would be nice if Central could cannibalize Miami to close the night.

All (3) winnable games to close the season, including at home Saturday against Central.

Definitely 3 winnable games, it's the locations that worry me. Those last two on the road will likely decide if the ladies make it to Cleveland.

Couldn't make today's game but it sounded like Marty Bannister said "there are a number of players with eligibility remaining for whom this is their final home game" and then named Kate Dennis as one of the players. I won't be able to catch the second half. Can anyone confirm this?

The recent post on X shows both Kate Dennis and Madi Mace joining the three seniors in the ceremony today. Looks like they're both gone. I'll miss them and the effort and leadership they provided. I don't think Kate ever stopped smiling and Madi was a local tie from Parkersburg.

Amazing, we'd be the six seed based on current standings. We hold tiebreaker over WMU by virtue of our win over Kent and that will not change as WMU does not play anyone ranked higher or anyone who could be ranked higher than Kent to close the week.
