Well, LSU is unbeaten. They had Belmont down 80-40 a few weeks ago and put in their non-professional players and still won by 30.

So, how does LSU get so many NBA quality players? Hmmmmmm...

Ugly, just ugly . . . why is this guy still around?

Because the NCAA has no balls. That's why the Wade's of the world skate. Why Bruce Pearl was allowed to return to coaching. (Also the SEC... what a coincidence). There is an old joke in SEC country. It goes like this...

If the University of Tennessee football program gets caught for many more violations, the NCAA is going to give SMU the death penalty again.

That says alot! BTW, whatever happened to the FBI investigation we heard so much about a few years ago. Is it still ongoing. I've not kept up with that, perhaps someone on here has been keeping tabs on it.

Thanks for reminding me why I only make it to this board infrequently these days. Some people act like such babies when all of the shots aren't falling and the wins aren't pilling up.

Do us all a favor and go back to posts about the freshness of the concession stand pretzels.

HeHate - It is important to note that he is never here either. He has a history of overreacting when we don't play well against big name national interest programs. He can go back into hiding again. Stick around, the majority of us are sane.

Yup, need to have a good shooting night. Obviously a lot goes into shooting and not every shot is equal. I am confident in our ability to take a similar amount of shots of a similar quality as top 25 caliber opponents. After the last few games I am not confident in our ability to hit enough of those shots.

My post-game analysis will be the same topic as my pre-game. I am impressed with this team's ability to defend, go for 50/50 balls, take care of the ball and create good looks. What keeps us from being worthy of top 25 consideration is our ability to hit those good looks.

Someone else highlighted it but it needs pointed out again...6 for 32 from INSIDE the arc. That is absolutely insane! So many mid-range jumpers or driving floaters that we absolutely should have hit and didn't. The troubling part is it isn't something you can just focus on and improve easily. Sure you can to an extent but really these guys just need to drain them. Sad part is our best pure shooter is the biggest part of the problem now.

I like LSU, well coached and relentless...should be top 20 for sure. I think our guys handled their constant pressure well for the most part. Defended pretty well overall, had no answer for Eason in the paint but gave them very few open looks and scrapped our way to lots of rebounds and open balls.

20 minutes from Schmock, did not expect that! And 16 from Clayton. Will become regular if Lunden stays away for awhile. I have no clue what is going on with him but I hope he gets thru whatever it is and lands on his feet!

While most of my posts are relatively sane, I wouldn't go as far as saying that I (as an individual) am sane.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Finally got a chance to watch the game via Youtube. Luckily, I have been able to watch all the D1 games except Mount St. Mary's and Robert Morris. Just some random thoughts about stuff.

I think 71BOBCAT is right on with his sentiment that we have won the games we should (Belmont was maybe a bit of a toss-up) and lost the games we should have. I am actually pretty happy with our performance at LSU. We played good D, rebounded well enough against an SEC team and limited turnovers. Our 3 pt shots just were not falling at a high enough rate to overcome the 2 pt percentage. If we shoot the 3 like we did against Belmont, it's a whole different game. I know. IF... I thought LSU did a great job of contesting the 2 pt shots though. Even when Mark would get into the lane and get some shots off, you could see he was just a bit out of his comfort range because of their length and physicality.

Would have liked to have McDay for this one. He's one of our best guys (BVP is the other one) that is able to hit shots that are of the high difficulty variety. Hope he is OK and able to make it back...

I thought our bench did well. AJ hit some big shots, got some rebounds. Smock did much better than at Kentucky and Towns played good D.

Towards the end of the game, there was one time when Mark was called for a foul on Pinson when in fact, the offensive player flat out pushed (Shoved) Mark hard in the chest to create separation on his drive. About as blatant as could be but, the announcers didn't say a peep about it. It was on the replay plain as day but, all they did was comment about how their player was fouled. Sickening to see that bias from two grown men. Ok, had to vent there...

Go BOBCATS!

I don't really care what any of you have to say BUT....

1. I don't let bygones be bygones with Carter leaving the first time. That was a chicken sh!t move by him to sell out the University. I would expect nothing less from this board than to simply gloss over that fact. Secondarily, from what I've watched this year - he's no better in his RS-5th year than he was his Sophomore year. He doesn't play big, he doesn't play all that tough, and his shot is pretty lackluster (I.E. not good, even on open looks). I mean, numbers don't lie over time. He's 6'8" and shot 38% from the Field last year at X, and was 8 of 44 from 3 last year at Xavier. 8 of 44. I'm sorry, I'm not impressed. Just because he's white, from Johnstown, and started at Ohio - some of you feel the need to cut him a pass. Yeah, I said it. Sorry, I still see someone that walked out on our school for 2 years. I'm a huge Jeff Boals fan, but I NEVER would have taken him back. I literally don't care if he scores 30 in a Final Four game for us, you have to stand for something like loyalty.

2. Sears - I really like him, but he played terrible on both ends at LSU. What else am I supposed to say? He's been the most consistent scorer this year, but he was literally air-balling layups in traffic in Baton Rouge. Should I say he played fantastic? Should I say he was amazing? No, he was terrible on both ends. Doesn't mean I am burying the kid. He was 4 of 18 from the field and has an assist to turnover ratio of 1:3. Relax.

One problem with Sears is that he doesn't know when to back off when driving the lane against a big. He gets blocked nine times out of ten and misses at least half the shots that aren't blocked. He's not going to draw a foul that often in those situations so he should just back out and wait for help or at least a better shot. Schmock had the same problem a couple times vs LSU.

Sears is going to be fine for us, but Love's comments aren't wrong.

Let's face it Sears has some elite skills. He's likely going to be our leading scorer this year (though I'd love to see his assist numbers a tick higher opening up shots for BVP in particular - who should be our leading scorer against tougher competition).

But he does struggle a bit with his 3pt shot (better this year and he has the stroke from FT so I think this can develop in time). He also struggles to finish around the rim and in the paint against longer athletic bigs like UK and LSU and *insert NCAA team*.

Because he has some elite qualities, if he didn't have those two struggles he wouldn't be playing for Ohio in the MAC. Kid would be at a P5 somewhere. Just need him to develop it a bit.

As far as transferring goes...reasonable people can disagree. Transferring defines college basketball over the past five years, and the trend is toward that intensifying. Currently, about a third of players are transferring each season. I am not a fan of this trend and the new rule allowing one transfer in a players' career without sitting out a year. Too much instability on rosters. But there is no turning back on this policy. We have to live with reality.

As far as Jason Carter...I see it differently. I never viewed his transfer to Xavier as "selling out" the university. He had graduated with his bachelors. I saw nothing wrong with his decision. As far as his play at Xavier....he started 51 of 53 games. He must have been doing something right.

Do you think Dwight Wilson III sold out James Madison when he moved to Ohio?

Following your reasoning, do you accuse all transfers of being "sell outs"?

As far as your playing of the race card....that's kind of irrational. Are you basing that on conversations with Ohio fans. How do you know?

If Jason Carter is a good teammate and doing his very best to help this year's Ohio team, who the frick cares what happened over two years ago? Remember, it was Boals asking BVP and Jason Preston if they would welcome the move. I look at it as a lesson in not burning bridges. Holding a grudge at this point, especially if the player scores 30 in the Final Four, is quite petty.

Jeff, I don't remember it this way. Carter left after his sophomore season, right? Are you saying he earned a bachelor degree in 2 years? Am I missing something?

He had an injury redshirt and was able to play immediately at Xavier before the one free transfer rule. I do not recall but I'd bet the reason he played immediately is that he got a bachelor's at OU

Yes, 1 redshirt year and graduated in 3 years. Coaching change + degree earned = Left for a starting role with a Big East team. A completely reasonable move. Then some of his closest friends of his life were able to vouch for the new coaching staff and Covid granted him the chance to come back to a University and friend group that he clearly had an affection for.

But I'm probably not judging the situation fairly because of the amount of Melanin in his skin.

So expanding on Love’s theory Boals should not consider ANY transfers. They are nothing but chicken shit traitors to whatever university they are transferring from. While I admit I was disappointed Carter chose to leave Ohio, I also respected his decision to do so. Bigger program, bigger conference, brighter lights to play under. and did so after his coach was jettisoned. Tough for me to throw Carter under the lack of loyalty bus when you look at the highest profile coaches bolting the Notre Dames, Oklahoma’s Oregon’s without the slightest concern for the players they are leaving in spite of those same coaches/hypocrites pounding home loyalty, loyalty and more loyalty for years. I would have picked another hill to die on Love. I’m hoping Carter has a successful final year at Ohio.
