Never thought I'd say that 6 years removed from a Sweet 16 appearance. We must be beating out Longwood for our power hitters. #GoSoftball #BleedGreen #WillBrucePearlRecruitOurStartingCatcher?

This is when it gets annoying. If there is a thread about Saul or the team then feel free to voice your displeasure. There is nothing wrong with that. It is good to have varying opinions on this board.

But why would you start a thread about the softball team's greatest accomplishment and use it to trash Saul again with your nonsensical hashtags? Do you not see how obnoxious this is?

Hypothetical: FearLeon doesn't actually want Ohio to win.

I've seen crazier things happen.

That's not a hypothetical. If we win, he'll have nothing to complain about, which will eliminate his need to post here.

*Correction* If we win he'll have LESS to complain about.

Actually listened to last 3 innings yesterday on radio. Hell of a season by the those girls, that's why I mentioned it. Wish people would have more of a sense of humor on this board. I'm sure Bruce Pearl would have laughed. #LightenUpFrancis

For the record, I actually laughed in response to this post. I am proud of what the ladies have accomplished too, but most Division 1 schools would not be satisfied with Softball being their marquee program, especially when compared with either basketball or football. Therefore, the humorous dig is fair in my opinion.

The other side of this issue is that having viewed other fan sites, I find this particular message board to be quite tame by comparison; in fact, the more competitive the program, the nastier the posts seem to become. After all, sports are about competition, and winning, not losing, is the ultimate goal.

Whether you sugar coat the message or not, the pressure is, indeed, on Saul and his program to produce this year and produce big; otherwise, I would not be surprised to hear news of the program going in another direction when it comes to the person that is leading the program.

I think we are closer to being a school of bitter alums who only see negative in all situations and have no grasp of context. That apparently is our calling card.

Similar to Ohio State Football fans. ;)

Remember when, for the most part, we actually talked about basketball here? You know, as in the play on the floor?

I do. And we STILL do for the most part. Great articles, discussion and insight are what keeps me coming back here.

But to complain that we aren't talking x's and o's in May is a bit disingenuous.

Should we be dissecting the plays we see being run at Ping?

I don't think we're anywhere near as bad as Ohio State fans but we're far more disparaging of Ohio's teams and of each other, far more than BA has ever been. That's the part that disappoints me. We attack each other more than ever and I don't understand why. If you like Saul or Frank, you're an apologist; if you think they aren't doing a good job then you just want to win at any cost. I don't think either position is true but the minute someone states a position on anything it seems someone else shoots it down as being idiotic. Wasn't that way on BA years ago.

But even at that we're nowhere near as bad as OSU fans-they're just plain crazy.

In a way, you're right - that does happen on here. On the other hand, the longest threads that have been posted in the year 2018, of 4 pages or longer, going back to the first of the year in 2018, are as follows in order of length:

The Jaaron Simmons thread. (17)
2018 Transfer List. (8)
Has Saul Lost the Team? (7)

Six years removed from the Sweet 16... (6)
Arkley reporting Saul was not extended (6)
What is Specialized Studies? (6)

$2 million Convo Video Board Project to be Considered (5)
Jason Carter's Status for Saturday (5)
#SaulBall (5)

Convo Atmosphere (4)
Chalk Up Another March Win For John Groce (4)
Official Game 19 Thread: Akron (4)

Of all those, tell me how many you think are really talking about basketball rather than just complaining about the coach?

Is he not the BASKETBALL coach? Meaning voicing opinions about him both positive and negative are inherently talking about....basketball? In particular - our basketball team.

That's like saying complaining about the President somehow isn't allowed on a political forum.

Disagree with the comments/arguments all you want, sometimes even express disgust - but then feel free to post and refute, counter, or debunk those positions. You know - open debate and discussion and exchange of thoughts and ideas. Or, if it gets to a point you don't feel it's worth your time - exercise your right to ignore it.

But don't be disingenuous and say it "isn't basketball" when it very clearly is.
