Akron is getting stronger. Willie Jackson left Missouri to deal with a family health issue at home. He was released last week and is enrolling at Akron. This is going to beef them up next year. Thoughts?

He doesn't look like a typical Keith Dambrot player. He doesn't shoot 3's at all (0-1 on the season), but he slashes well and takes good shots (56% fgs). He also rebounds really well for a wing.

Good get for Akron.

Watched him at Flyin to the Hoop last year. He will definitely be difficult to match up with in terms of being a leaper for a wing. Like his game a lot, disappointed to see him leave Mizzou. Nonetheless, Akron picked up a pretty good ballplayer.

Is your latest info Elton Alexander? http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2017/01...

Good get for Toledo. Glad he won't be in the MAC East.

Haha no. Good old Elton. No I have close ties to his former high school program as I'm a former coach in the area.

We should have got him, Sonny is the coach of Garfield Heights, but all we recruit is three point shooters. He will be a monster in the MAC. 56%, wow. We need to recruit some slashers after Tone leaves, the only player that may get to the foul line will be Simmons.

It's only a matter of days before allen provides recruiting tips for Ohio baseball and volleyball after dabbing in personnel suggestions for Ohio football and basketball.

Maybe in this case, this is a player where there's no scholarship room right now?

I don't think that's correct. Why would he leave his alma mater?

It does seem odd that he's sent a bunch of kids to D1 programs but he's never steered one our way.

Given the list that Ted shared, it is a little strange. A couple were never going to a MAC school from the start - I'm thinking Hughes and Jackson most recently. Still, given Saul's focus on Ohio recruiting and basketball alumni day, it would seem like an ideal relationship to foster.

Sure. You just wanted to add to your post total with one post essentially cancelling out the other. In the race to the top 20 BA posters, I recommend the mods don't count either one.

This year Marreon Jackson will be leaving Garfield for Toledo, and Shawn Christian will be going to Cleveland State. These student athletes are attending MAC/Horizon. schools so there are athletes from this school which could fit our program. Would like an alum like Sonny to get an "in" with Coach Phillips or vice versa. Just to reach out to a former player would be nice (not saying he hasn't but...). There was a student athlete named Mike McQueen who played basketball and football at Garfield. He played football at Ohio a few years back.

I agree Christian and Jackson are pretty good.

We don't seem to recruit much from Greater Cleveland, which seems like a missed opportunity. Maybe we do and just don't land the players? I dunno. I think Reggie Keely was the last Bobcat from this neck of the woods.

If you're counting Akron/Canton, then Toles and Gareri have been recruited from up there. Otherwise, I see your point on the missed opportunity.
