For those of you coming this way tomorrow, good luck. The National Weather Service just issued a winter storm warming for the area.

We traveled into town a day early to avoid driving in it. Prepared to travel to Convo by foot if necessary. Just hopeful they don't cancel the game...?

Smart move, Jere.

I guess there's a small chance the.game could be.changed to Sunday, but I doubt it. Kent is already in town. I doubt they would agree to postponing to Sunday unless they didn't think they could get home after the game Saturday.

We're under a level 2 right now. If the sheriff were to declare a level 3, then that might move the game to Sunday. The next four hours will tell. The D 1 boys swim meet at OU has been moved till tomorrow.

Getting about an inch or more an hour out here in the hinterlands and the weather map looks less than promising for any long-term respite.
Al is correct about the swim meet cancellation; visions of buses in ditches.

Would they still move it tomorrow with having it on TV? I'm already telling my kids that daddy has the TV at 2.

Tested the central Ohio roads by driving from the northwest side to downtown Columbus. Side streets passable, but slippery. Ohio 315 had one decent lane. Interstate 70 downtown was snow covered and extremely slippery. With ice possible in the forecast, I am passing on a visit to the Convo today. Hope those that make it give the Bobcats a homecourt advantage.

That's funny Joe because I often do the same thing before posting what's going on down here. I drive from my house on the far east side (in that neighborhood north of East State Street where Damon's used to be) to the Convo via the highway and then back to my house through town. The snow has started again and looks like it will snow right up till tip off. What I'm more concerned about for those traveling from afar is the mixed stuff that should start at about 4:00.

Well I just decided to go for it like Amundsen, but Swank now makes me think I could end up like Shackleton. Guess I'll watch on TV.

Platinum Seats 4 A 6 & 7 now open. I would rather see someone sitting in them while watching the game than see empty Platinum section!

I've been intending to drive to U of A to see the Ohio women this afternoon. But snow has been falling here for hours and continues heavily. Even if roads driveable, I've a feeling that parking in and around Rhodes Arena would be problematic. Now thinking better choice is to remain housebound...

Two questions: 1. What do you have against Paduach? 2. Why do you find this funny?

I guess I'm just too close to this to find it funny. I remember auditing physicians for our radio health show and we had many who sounded just like this dude. They could talk extemporaneously just fine, but trying to read a script was like pulling teeth. It was as though the scripts were in ancient Greek and they were trying to translate them on the fly.

Well, I'm off to the game. I expect an EMUesque crowd given the number of out-of-towners who can't make it and the number of local wimps who won't come out if they see a snow flake.

I have nothing against Pad KY but that is like Rockford, Eau Claire, Morehead ad those places with Local affiliates that broadcast journalists do not want to get stuck. Dayton, Terra Haute, and Stevens Point are hard enough to go to but really bad folks that have no talent get stuck in backwaters for life. I am not sure why you can't see how pathetically bad these guys are...the only thing you can do is laugh and hit the replay.

OCF, remember when we had Todd Baucher on channel 9 out of Parkersburg? That's exactly what Tom is talking about. And check this out - oh my God.

WTAP is awful. Todd Baucher is like a daily version of the Boom Goes the Dynamite guy. I watch it because it's my local news, but sometimes it's uncomfortable because the on-air "talent" is so bad.

Yes, I can see how pathetically bad they are, but I don't see it as particularly funny. It's just not funny to me. I cringe much more than I laugh at this type of stuff. That's just me, I guess.

In terms of Paducah, when we lived in Murray, Paducah was the "big city" that we went to to have a good time and get a good "up scale" restaurant dinner. Our idea of up-scale on an associate professor's salary was, admittedly, not exactly the Ritz. Paducah was the nearest city with an airport with major airline service. I'd be more comfortable if you had talked about Peoria, Illinois, as a good example of the end of the earth. I think Geno would agree with that assessment, too. ;-)

THat's fine Peoria it is....I already had Rockford but I will give Illinois 2 and throw in Rock Island so the upscale and cosmopolitan community of Paducah does not get included in backwaters of the US. Called my buddy in suburban Eureka IL to tell him ....he has been a chicago kid for the entire 60 years of his life before getting transferred to Peoria....he took no offense to your including Peoria...in fact he laughed ad pretty much agreed ....then started in on Paducah... Fun stuff and homage to the pathetically bad
