Very sad news as a Member of the EMU Women's Basketball Team was killed this morning in car accident.

Eastern is one of the most difficult teams to try to figure out this season. At times they look like they can match up and play with just about anyone, and then other times they have really struggled. (1-5 in league play)
If the Cats can bring the effort that they showed in the Convo on Saturday we will have a chance to get win #3! 'Kudo's to Setty for the energy and spark that he is bringing to this team. Much needed ! We must be able to pass the ball inside the Eastern zone without excessive turn-overs. Our bigs need to attack the basket and do some damage inside ! The inside game could open up some good looks from the perimeter if we can contract that zone. Our ability to attack their zone and get some good looks is my key to the game from the cheap seats ! Go Cats !

If the previous two years are an indication, EMU is athletic and long, which makes their zone suffocating and that much harder to just get the ball into the post at will. We've got to loosen them up by hitting some outside shots.

If we do not shoot well, this could be an ugly 56-54 type of game. The emus can't hit the ocean from the beach.

Contracting their zone by attacking the center of the floor and also the blocks will force them to protect inside which makes the shots you get on the perimeter better "looks". Quickly launched outside shots without forcing the zone to defend attacks at the basket will make for a long bus ride!
Obviously we need to shoot the ball well from outside against their zone, but shot selection, and when we shoot the ball in the possession can be important hints as to how we will do against this zone. The 7 footer from last year is no longer camped out in the middle. Our bigs need to play well !

It's going to be tougher to get Mo isolated like he was on Saturday. Unfortunately, the best way to beat a zone is quick ball movement and spacing. Not sure we have that club in our bag. Surprise me Bobcats!

There is no way I would put money on this game! Think I would rather invest in the Russian Stock Market right now.

Another game with no mac-sports.com stream and no ESPN3? Is the EMU pay site the only video feed?

So will there be more people on the video feed, or in the arena? Who paid more per person?

Who determines whether games like this go on mac-sports? The school? The MAC?

Oh, this game is tonight? Ho ho ho Merry Christmas.

"Post" staffers put their game picks in today's issue. I wonder if any of them ever look at Ken Pom or even the stats on the MAC page because several of them pick us to score more than 70. We're a sometimes offensively-challenged team playing on the road against a team that plays zone and kills their own shot clock. I am happy to eat crow, if they're right.

The over-under seems to be from 126-129.5, which is pretty low, but I'm with you, I expect even less points.

I was assuming this game was on Wednesday until I looked at this thread earlier today. Made my day much better!

This is the hardest time I've had trying to find a sports webstream in a long time. I may just have to pony up the $7.00.

Went a little too far west, let's go SJ Earthquakes!

Agreed. I felt like last year was the best accessibility we've ever had, and this year has gone backwards ten years.

I emailed Jeremy Guy last week about why I can only get Kent St. games on the MAC website. His response is "Akron, Ohio, Bowling Green, & Toledo also air games free of charge. We link these on our site on the schedule page. Thanks for following the Mid-American Conference!"

He gave no explanation as to why these are the only schools that will be aired on mac-sports.com

Personally, I don't mind paying the small fee to watch the game. In virtually every case when I've paid I've had a much better feed, much less "buffering" and better camera work sometimes, too. The very best paid feed I ever had (other than WatchESPN, which I pay via cable subscription) was a football feed several years ago from Testicle Tech. They had excellent camera work, a great many replays with various camera angles and NO announcers whatsoever. They just had live audio from the stadium, including, of course, the PA announcer. It really gave you the feel that you were at the game. I wish more places would use that approach; of course, tonight there will be very little audience noise, so that approach wouldn't work here. Perhaps, they should hook up each viewer with two way audio and then mix our screaming and yelling with the sound from the court to create a feeling of a big crowd. ;-)

I notice a lot of Horizon games are on ESPN 3. They also have games on Time Warner. Meanwhile, the MAC has an arrangement that makes it difficult for fans to watch its games.

Yeah, the past couple of years were pretty easy. I had no problem watching any MAC game (that I can recall). This year I've already had to buy the Ball State game and now tonight's. Whatever. Just $7.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

Not a big fan of watching the game with no announcers. Would much rather listen to Russ and Rob. I remember when the NFL tried it and it failed miserably. I think it was a Jets-Dolphins game back in the early 80s but I could be wrong on that. It beats no feed at all but I'd much rather have the announcers. There are some pretty good ones out there.
