Let's help convert some LA kids to be Bobcats for life!

Just saw this https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10102690698006544 this morning and thought it would be really cool if we could add some more money so that they can not only get t-shirts, but maybe some more Bobcat stuff for the classroom, maybe even some basketball and footballs. And if anyone knew of a way to get a "Best Fans in the MAC" blanket or something that would be really cool too.

To paraphrase for those that can't access the link right away a Bobcat alum that is a teacher in South LA has a school where the teacher's decorate their room as their Alma Mater. Her kids have really embraced this and even self taught themselves the fight song to sing as they clean up for the day. She passed on her request to Bobcats in LA group to raise money to help pay for t-shirts that Universitees is providing for $5.50 as not all her kids families can even afford that. I propose we create some Bobcat cheer, what do you guys say?

I just sent the link to Dr. McDavis and encouraged him to stop by this classroom on his next trip to LA. Wouldn't that be a thrill for those students.

Very impressive - a lot to live up to cc cat. I've made some incremental gains (what with that big hairy monster in our state not helping) but this LA teacher has obviously done a great job with some wonderful kids. Have to give her and her children an A+.

This is the definition of being a bobcat. Not many other schools have such strong feelings for their alma mater like those from ohio u. I am so proud to graduate from a great institution and to have such strong alumni base. Great job by this teacher.

Only Alan could make this into something political. I applaud this effort, but my support of it has nothing to with my position on Common Core, which I think on balance is about as poor an idea as Leave No Kid Behind from the previous administration. In general I don't like any of these attempts to nationalize educational standards and curricula. The only indoctrination that I'm in favor of is Bobcat Indoctrination. Go OHIO!

Just saw a post where she has all the money she needs for her students and was sending the excess to the fund for students who lost everything in the Union Street fire. Well done.

I beg to differ Steveland. Here is my quote:

I was using this as an example of what so many people say in regards to common core - that it takes away individual and institutional creativity. This teacher and this school are being very creative. I saw this as an opportunity to state a philosophical/political point of view.
