And yet ....looking at 2 of my 4 boys ipods they are loaded with The Who, Genesis, Yes, Floyd etc. My 14 y/o has almost worn me out on Quadrophenia this summer...he even downloaded the studio and acoustic sessions. Probably gonna have to find a long raincoat and a Vespa soon.

Alan.....what is "tinty"?

The floor still seemed to have that darkness to it even when I was in there ...but I do not think all of the floor lights were on....

I asked the AD what it would take...a sponsor?  A group of contributors?  No one ever responded to me.

Are you referring to a center hung scoreboard or a better video stream??

Quadrophenia - one of the best of all time. My 16 yr old just started playing Bass Guitar - first song I had him listen to for rock style inspiration was "Can You See The Real Me" - Entwistle tears it up. He loves the Who. The soundtrack at the Convo should always mix in stuff from various genres and era's.

They always used to do this in the early days of the Convo just before the start of the game.  Then they would turn the upper seat light back on at halftime and then at the end of the game.  I've never been sure why they stopped doing it.  The court always seemed to be well lit back then during the game and it gave a more dramatic effect with the court being the clear focus of everything.

I've been hoping this would be something that could be done with the addition of new lights for years as well.  UD Arena does this, and it's fantastic.

Tinty is a sound that describes the treble notes that came out of a Kenner Close and Play - very thin notes in the mid to higher ranges.  That's what the Convo sound system sounds like now - kind of like blown speakers because someone played a bunch of hair band music way too loud.

From what I understand, they will be dimming the lights in the stands so that the floor is highlighted.  I heard it has been done this summer and it looks great!

I am very excited to hear that.

It is amazing how something that is seemingly as basic as lighting can have such a major impact to the feel of an arena. When the lighting has been dimmed on the stands and focused on the floor in the past I've always felt it really bumped our atmosphere up to that next level.

Between the lighting AND banners I am really starting to agree with the crowd that thinks a hanging scoreboard might not be the right fit for this arena.

I've seen crazier things happen.

interesting

Thanks for the explanation, I could not find a good definition on the interwebs.

Now it is here for future generations.

We have had a few blown speakers around here throughout my life but I can assure you it was never attributable to a hair band.

Perhaps an updated sound system is down the road also. Like everything else that hangs from stadium roofs, I am sure that has become smaller.

Anyway, I'm hoping for a better sound system and a new DJ who plays better tunes in the Convo.

Sadly, it's not the 70's anymore. I doubt the music many of us want to hear is making a comeback!
They can at least start with broadening their in-game selections to something other than a "ESPN Jock Jams" CD.

Mix new and old... not exclusively 2014 music, but not couples dance on Saturday at the VFW either.

When I drove in to work this morning, I noticed the paint work looked great on the exterior!  Compared to what it was earlier this summer, I think it looks very nice.

Alan Swank posted a link to a website called Gearslutz.com

So we've got that going for us.

And since so many OU grads are from Northeast Ohio, I thought I'd throw out this website link:

http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2014/07/blossom_music_center_janis_jop.html?appSession=673469366204174

Just punch in the year or the band and you'll be amazed what appears.  I worked there in the summer of 1973 when Pink Floyd played Dark Side of the Moon in SQ Quad with speakers on the stage and on the top of the hill.  All I can say, I wish you were there.

Thanks Alan  I worked summers at muni stadium so I didn't get to Blossom as much as I would have liked. Working the old World Series of Rock shows are some of my favorite memories of those days.

Bump.

Anyone have further updates?

I know there are banners, I know the outside has been painted, there are new lights, an the center speakers seemed to be new last year. I'd expect new seats won't be in until after basketball season.

So any updates on the hall of fame murals, new "front door" entrance?
