is that the MAC continues to allow important games to be played on weeknights at hours that make it impossible for fans of both schools to attend or even stay awake to watch them end.  You heard Russ say it on air last night.  This was another made for TV event that might as well have been played on a stage.

I'm not saying it affects play on the field tremendously but I have to believe that if this game had been played on Saturday afternoon, there would have been more Cats in the stands to make a little more noise and make the players take notice.  Maybe the band even makes an appearance.  It's just sad for MAC football

I do believe that the conference profile has been raised nationally and no doubt the money is good but for all OUr appearances I'll bet we have had as many people say "Yep, I told you they were no good" as we've impressed.  I measure this solely by the comments I get at work on mornings like this.

Selfishly, I lament the loss of sleep and a train wreck like last night only makes it worse.  By the way, how many of those student athletes do you think are going to make their 8 o'clocks or even their 11 o'clocks today?

And if played on a Saturday afternoon, no one of a casual and prospective fan would have caught this game, as they would have been tuned to a game of National Importance or of their favorite team.  These matchups are prime exposure for the MAC and the teams in the MAC.  Bottom line is you have to preform when you are on the National State.

But why do they need to put two MAC games on a Wednesday night at the same time?  1 or two games a week is fine. 3 of the 6 conference games a week is not.  I've complained for weeks that our last 4 games are basically week nights.  Why can't the shuffle it up so that at least two of those are on the weekend?

And I'm curious - how "prime" is the exposure really?  Does it really gain that much exposure? What do the numbers look like?

Not sure about exact numbers, but this game on Saturday would be relegated to watching on your phone or computer, v. being in 70% of the TV sets in America.  That alone = exposure, even if a kid doesn't watch you can always tell them we played on a National TV, prime time audience....or we played on iPads everywhere.

MACtion isn't a term in the national sports lexicon without these games.

And, of course, the next step would be to tell them we played well on national, prime time TV.  Having "Yackety Sax" as your theme song -- as it was for the punting game last week and should've been for the defense last night -- doesn't do much for recruiting or the fan base.  There are pluses and minuses to having this exposure.

I agree, and would really like to see a little more balance in the week night schedules so that one team isn't playing four straight weeknight games.  I'd actually like to have a Saturday tailgate in Athens after homecoming.

Please.  To not recognize the value of the mid-week TV games is to proceed in a manner similar to the way that we've played in the last two games.

Take a look at last year when we had about five straight games on TV in prime time.

I don't mind our schedule, except for the 3 games in 12 days.  If we had gone from a bye week right to the weeknight games, it would have been fine.  And, if we had actually won those games, I would be fine with that as well.

We get exposure by playing the games.  My only problem is that Peden Satudium is the only one that looks full on TV.  The rest of the conference schools have pathetic fanbases.

I may be alone in this thinking but.............

The one nice thing about the games taking place during the week is that our losses as of late have been a little easier to get over since I have work the next day and that gives me plenty of other things to consume my frustration lol.

When it is on a Saturday and we lose it tends to consume me more.  So my Saturdays have been more pleasant.....so I have that going for me........which is nice.

My honey do list gets done more quickly on Saturdays starting in late October.

I do think though that it is kind of a bad deal with the weeknight games.  We play 1/3 of our schedule on days other than Saturday.  Seems a bit much to me.  I live within a 4 hour drive or less of every MAC school in Ohio and am closer to Ball State than any other team outside of Miami.  Could make a Saturday trip.  Would be highly unlikely to make a Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday trip.

Let's go Bobcats!  Rally around your pride and let's extinguish the dumpster fire!

How many hours of sleep to you require?!  Do you really think students are always tucked away in bed by 10 pm?  Come on, we're talking about an 11:30 end time and midnight bed time at worst.  A solid 7 hours of sleep still for most...Even if you typically require more, I think you can handle it for a day and go to bed earlier the next night.

I can't really answer that, but I can tell you that the overall quality of MAC recruits started rising significantly immediately after the MAC started the mid-week TV game thing, if you believe the recruiting services. I would say they were probably right, because now we're seeing increasing numbers of wins over BCS conference teams.

To each his own.  I'm often at my desk by 7:30 and that's after a 60 minute run, shower, breakfast and commute.  Repeat every day. The "catch-up" option is not really available.  I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in abiding by a different schedule than the average college student.

Fair enough points.  I like watching an improved brand of football, so if that's what it takes, that's what it takes.  I would like to at least see it arranged so that one school isn't playing Tues/Wed/Thurs three weeks in a row.  My logic is simple - For me as an out of towner from Cbus, an 8pm kickoff on a "school night" is simply too late.  Get's me home between 1am and 2am.  So for selfish reasons, I want more Saturday games in Athens to come down for.

+1

Also, they need to make sure that when a team has one short week, or back to back ones, that the foe has the same schedule.

BSU played Tuesday last week in Toledo, while we played Wednesday at home.  Not that much difference.

We get nine days before the Kent game, while Kent will only have six, less because they're on the road.  Based on our injury situation and other factors discussed elsewhere, I doubt it'll make any difference.

Let's face it, the MAC wants teams that will likely be relevant for bowl bids getting national exposure through midweek games in Nov.  In recent years that's meant Ohio, NIU, Toledo, BSU, WMU, sometimes Fiami and CMU.  At the start of the season, whooda thunk that Kent and BG would be more relevant than Ohio right now?

Yeah, is your complaint about inconvenience ...or about our results?
