Hmm, all these games at the same time... It will be interesting to see which pulls the highest rating.

Ohio vs Penn State will easily crush those other games

Would be very surprised if it's not ours. First game for Penn State w/o JoePa, on The Mothership, with a GameDay lead-in.

Also, think about this.....there is a realistic chance that, by 3:30 pm on the first Saturday of the college football season, the MAC is 2-1 against the B1G (Miami sucks). And it could be 3-1 by 7 pm.

Oh I agree, the Ohio game will probably have the highest rating, and may well be the best game, too. How will Ohio A&M fans explain it if they pull lower ratings?

They'll say of course it had a higher rating since it was the first game after JoePa's death. Also, our game is on a large, national, basic cable channel, and their's is on a regional channel that does not come standard on basic cable packages. Let's not kid ourselves thinking that we are the reason our game will pull a higher rating than OSU-Miami. Instead, let's make it the most exciting game to watch, and pull off the upset on the national stage.

Oh, I'd never suggest kidding ourselves. However, I'm willing to bet that some Bobcats will take the time to kid some A&M fans, especially if Ohio pulls out the win.

I'll go one step further and bet that game is the best rates program of any type in its timeslot.

Being a UMass fan have to ask what happened with week 5? We're on the TV schedule side for the first four weeks, but not with OHIO in week 5.

Wouldn't surprise me if it shows up on NESN or some other channel.  It has a 3:30 start, so that's timed for TV.

TV deals are done based on the home team's conference deals for each game, so weeks 1 and 3 are under the Big East and Big Ten contracts, respectively.  Your game week 2 got picked up by ESPN3 under the MAC package, likely because of the opponent (Indiana).  Then your MAC debut against Miami is the MAC game of the week, which makes some sense (televising your first conference game).

Since it hasn't yet been picked up by any of the conference deals (ESPN, STO, or the ESPN+ broadcast package), the rights would revert to the school to put it on the air with a local partner (like BCSN for BG/Toledo, CSN Chicago for NIU, or Time Warner Cable Sports for Buffalo).  In looking at your last couple years, I see CBS 3 out of Springfield picked you guys up a couple times in 2010, so perhaps that'd be a potential partner.

Being new to the conference you may not know, but last season all un-televised football games were streamed live online.  Quality varied, but most were pretty watchable, and it largely depended on the equipment available at each home stadium.  I'd suspect yours might well lead the pack by a large margin, since you'll have access to pro-level equipment at Gillette.

---

Unrelated, but welcome to the board and conference.  As a June 2011 transplant to CT, I'm very excited to have you guys in the MAC, and will be making the trek to Boston for this one!  Also already making tentative plans for the rumored basketball contest this winter.

As expected, Akron game has been added to ESPN3, making Marshall our only game this season unavailable through a widely-distributed network or webcast.

According to Verizon (Fios) you have to order Gameplan for the entire year without an option of per week?

Most providers I've seen don't really publicize that you can get it for just the weekend unless you call, although I suppose it would be their choice if they didn't want to sell it.  If you just looked online, it might be worth a quick phone call (sorry this is so late -- I was at work until 3am last night).

1-2 weeks before the game is played is typical. With our game against Kent State once again seeming to be very important for the end of the season, I'd say you can fairly confidently pencil it in at 11am on ESPNU.

Toledo vs Cincinnati - not on TV in Ohio (Columbus anyway)? Ridiculous!

Why is the Nov 7 game not bold?

Also just as a hopeful side note, can you also add the BCS bowls which we may be eligible for as well in the Bowl section.

Oversight on my part -- thanks for the heads up.

I'm as optimistic as they come, but try to run this on a factual basis, so I'll leave the bowls the conference has primary ties to, and add additional ones as berths are announced at the end of the season.  If you'd like to check out a complete schedule for bowl season, check out Matt Sarz's excellent page here: http://www.mattsarzsports.com/Football2012/Bowls

Do we have an official start time for Ball State now that we are within the 12 day window?

Do we have an official start time for Ball State now that we are within the 12 day window?
Well I haven't found a press release, but the start times for the games on ESPN.com are posted, it appears we kick at 8, playing on the U, while NIU Toledo will be at 9 on ESPN2 (which makes sense).

Hopefully will clean up/update soon. Life has been a bit busy lately.
