Say you have a swing pass to a running back, and an Ohio DB is closing. Which DB do you have the most confidence in to make the open field tackle, one on one?

I wonder...Back in the day, our coaching staff schooled defenders readying to tackle a ball carrier in the open field to focus on his belt buckle.  As our coaches told us often, ball carriers can fake with their heads, shoulders and feet but NOT their belt buckles.

They were right.  Our DBs seldom missed a tackle.

Today?  I wonder if coaches still preach "Concentrate on his belt buckle."  If they do, way too man DBs are absorbing the message.

I personally think there is too much emphasis on stripping the ball, and that ends up turning what should be a sure tackle into an arm tackle that gets run out of. Alternately they try to make a big hit, and get faked out. I voted for Bass because he's the one guy that seems to be Mr. Automatic in those situations, and I see there are others that agree.

No voting for Shaw or Omar Leftwich, either. Against Kant, maybe some of the other DB's will show they deserve votes, too.

The one vote for Kristoff has to be a joke right?

I am a believer in the "force turnovers" brand of D.

I've seen crazier things happen.
