Post this up all over our locker room, weight room, classrooms, heck mushrooms-keep it in front of our players to motivate them to train fast and hard this off season.  I know that individual accolades do not translate into championships but the stronger our individuals are, the more likely they will compete for championships.

I have no problem with that list.

As a team Ohio was ranked the following in MAC Play

7th in scoring Offense
6th in scoring Defense

8th in Total Offense
6th in Total Defense

5th in Rushing Offense (only off cat. we were in the top half)
9th in Rushing Defense

8th in Pass Offense
3rd in Pass Defense (only Def cat. we were in the top half)

5th in FG's

11th in Sacks given up with 24 in league play.

Beau - 4th in Rushing, 8th in All-Purpose (not 1st team numbers).

TT was 8th in pass yds a game, 9th in total Off, and 9th in Pass eff%

NO WR's in the top 10 of anything.

NO Defensive players in the top 10 of any meaningful statistic.

I would agree although I thought Herman would have a chance at First Team.

Beau was 4th in league games rushing, and 8th in all-purpose yards, probably right where he belongs, still had a heck of a year.

Herman and the O-Line just didn't cut it down the stretch in MAC play.  24 sacks, and mid of the pack rushing and passing the ball.  Probably about right where they needed to be as well.  Herman is a nice player and has a solid Bobcat career.

I also have no problem with that list, but in typical Bobcat Attack message board fashion, I'm looking to overanalyze it and have some questions to ponder:

1. The lack of any first-team all-MAC players -- indicative of poor recruiting by Coach Solich? With the time and system in place here, and all of these national TV games/bowl appearances, shouldn't we have better performing players? At least one player that is the best at his position in the conference?

2. Conversely, one could argue that even if you have standout players, you need a quality, well-balanced TEAM. So if Coach Solich didn't have one single first-team all-conference player, had to deal with a severe bout of injuries and still saw the success he had this year, shouldn't that give him more rationale as coach of the year? (Although, I do believe that KSU's Hazell is deserving of it)

Bowl Appearances are nice, but not when your getting beat down in them.

Yes we won the Idaho Potato bowl last year, but recruiting from that game won't show up in this years numbers.  We are talking MAYBE a couple freshman this season were 'turned on' to Ohio from that bowl game.

If we get anything from our successful bowl game its in recruits that were seniors in high school this year.

I think judging how we show up in All-Conference teams this season has little to do with our bowl games.

We started off a great season 7-0, fell on hard times in the end.  Voters for these lists usually look at numbers but then they also look at what you've done against Conference opponents.  And against conference opponents we didn't get it done.

I look at this list and i'm not surprised by it.  Room to improve.

I agree on all fronts that this team did not have a First Team type of season but I will disagree with those of you posting mere stats about Beau. The fact is that Beau, without a platoon with Boykin and with a competent offensive coordinator, would have easily led the MAC in rushing. He was on pace without Boykin and then got bounced. There were times against Kent where he was out and I just wondered why he wasn't in and Daz was? Beau is a gamer, one of the few that are left on this year's team playing with heart. Give Archer First Team Special Teams and Second Team RB. Beau is one of the top 2 backs in the MAC.

As I have said until I am blue in the face...OHIO needs more bigger, faster and stronger athletes on both sides of the ball.  This starts with better recruiting and even more improvement by players in the four or five (or six) years they are in Athens.  Right now, we are just middle of the pack in terms of numbers and quality of players.

Maybe with the injured guys we have coming back and the other experienced returnees we'll be a lot better next year.  I just hope this recruiting class dosen't end up 8/9 in the MAC and I would still like to see at least 6-7 three star type recruits.

Wish those that like to dump on coach Albin could get together.  This time Beau should have had more carries.  As it was he had the most in the MAC, 41 more than Fluellen. 293 carries and 1500 yards is a bunch.    Usually the Albin critics are calling for more passing.  With Ohio fans you can't even please some of the people all the time.

Well, we all can agree, problem is high school OL don't come to Ohio bigger, stronger and faster than Herman, Letchner, Allen, Carlotta, Prior, Mcgrath etc.  If they do exist the are snapped up by OSU & USC.  Ohio has to build them up. Same at other positions.  Ohio's seniors turn out pretty good after five years in the system.  You must have noticed the freshmen arriving bigger each year.  The most notable position is QB, no offense to TT but I can't wait to see these more high profile types after a few years with Gdowski.  There are better potential athletes coming up. The process rolls on given we don't get greedy and waste picks on athletes who can never handle the student part.

Exactly. Ohio fans. That's what we are. You're just a Solich fanboy.

Message Not Read  RE: No Bobcats on First Team All-MAC

Bcat2--we're all on the same side.  It's a mystery to some of us how one could have watched this team lose 4 of 5--and performing at a level that was worth of producing 4 of 5 losses--and not find something to be critical about.

How many times are we going to go to the wide receiver screen before we get the message that play ain't working to any particular advantage?

How many times are we going to fail to try for quarterback pressure, thus allowing oppositon offenses to run what they want without particular disruption?

Where's the band?!
WHERE"S THE BAND?!
