The MAC got seven teams in bowls this season, helped in no small part by four schools with winning records -- Penn St., O$U, UNC and MiamiF -- being ineligible for bowls, either through NCAA sanctions or on their own.  Next season could see at least that many ineligibles.  Penn St is already out.  MiamiF will likely be gone, too; falling on their sword this year may only avoid the death penalty; I expect they'll still get dinged at least one more year.  UNC might also be back.  Central Florida was supposed to be out this season but got it delayed.  And it looks like Oregon will be gone next year.  Their offer for sanctions was rejected by the NCAA, so whether they included one or more years of bowl ineligibility or not, whatever they offered wasn't enough and the NCAA will likely put additional bowl ineligibility on the list.  Not sure who else is out there, but there will likely be at least four or five winning teams from this season not going to bowls next season.

You think the MAC will score any additional bowl tie-ins next year (the # of bowl tie-ins a conference is allowed being equal to the 4-year rolling average of bowl eligible teams from said conference)?

If the league goes 0-7, I doubt it!

Is this your hope, or your prediction?

It seems your recent rash of posts indicate that you want Ohio football to fail and for us to put all our eggs in the basketball basket.   You keep predicting that Ohio will no longer be an FBS football team after conference realignment, when there's really no reason to think that'll be case, even if the power conference schools would so desire.  You completely ignore the legal aspects and the fact that the four-team playoff system has a BCS Bowl setup that automatically has a place every year for the highest ranked non-power conference FBS team.  This bowl was specifically designed to prevent anti-trust action against the power conferences.

Bowls that are lower on conferences' totem poles will likely be looking for backups at least.

A lack of success in bowls hasn't stopped the conference from securing more bids previously.

Has everyone forgot that last year the MAC tied for the ESPN award given to the conference with the most bowl victories?  The previous year we had a losing streak.  No reason to assume we won't have at least a decent bowl season this year.  I'm certainly betting on Ohio, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the upset in the Orange Bowl.  It kind of has the "feel" of the 1973 Tangerine Bowl, in which Oxford Tech beat Florida 16-7, and the game was not nearly as close as that final score would have you believe.

MAC was also helped by La Tech AD sitting on his thumbs. I'm guessing that won't happen again next year, and there won't be a 9-3 staying home while a 6-6 team goes bowling.

Last year don't mean beans! Right now the MAC is behind the woodshed in the second of two games. Could be a long bowl season.

The question I have is what game will Ohio play in next year? Solich has played in a remarkable 5 different bowl games at Ohio without ever winning the conference. Is he the MAC coach to take a program to 5 different bowl games? We haven't played in the Military Bowl yet but next year that is CUSA vs. ACC so that means Marshall? Are all the new changes in place for next season such as East Carolina to the Big East and Louisville to the ACC? The MAC's biggest competition for the non-AQ slot was Boise State but they could be AQ for next season. Could Ohio go to the Orange Bowl? I didn't think a non-AQ could end up there in back-to-back years but the Sugar Bowl accepted Hawaii and Utah in back-to-back years.

Let's just win the MAC.  I wouldn't care which bowl we got to after that.  Although it would be fun seeing Herbie have another conniption if Ohio got into a BCS bowl.

Winning the MAC is almost required for the school to get a higher level bowl pairing. Either the MAC Championship would lead to a BCS bowl out right or allow the school to be matched with a Top 25 Sun Belt Champion. After that the chances of playing a Top 25 team in a bowl game are slim to none (though BG and Toledo did so this year). On the subject of taking a school to different bowl games, from looking at the numbers Solich has to be the only MAC coach to take a school to 5 different games. Next would be Bill Cubit at 3 (International, Texas, Pizza) and now he's out of there.

Northern Illinois 8 (California, Silicon Valley, Poinsettia, Independence, Potato, GoDaddy, Orange)
Ohio 7 (Sun, Tangerine, GoDaddy, Pizza, New Orleans, Potato, Independence)
Bowling Green 7 (Mercy, California, Las Vegas, Pizza, GoDaddy, Potato, Military)
Miami 7 (Sun, Salad, Tangerine, California, GoDaddy, Independence)
Toledo 7 (Tangerine, California, Las Vegas, Pizza, GoDaddy,  Military, Potato)
Ball State 5 (California, Las Vegas, International, GMAC, Beef O'Brady)
Western Michigan 5 (Aviation, California, International, Texas, Pizza)
Central Michigan 4 (California, Las Vegas, Pizza, GoDaddy)
Kent State 2 (Tangerine, GoDaddy)
Akron 1 (Pizza)
Buffalo 1 (International)
Eastern Michigan 1 (California)

I don't think it's necessarily a good thing that we've never been "invited back".
