One of the teams today (i think it was New England) scored a td on a short run by direct snap to running back.  When are we going to add that to our offense.  Gotta be good for key yards 2-3 times a year.

My nephew, who will become the fifth alumnus of OHIO in 3.5 years, achieved a 4.0 in his first semester at Ohio.

Congrats to him!

All year I was expecting a play where we hurried to the line, TT gave 1 "stomp", paused, looked and took a step to the side line for the "are we REALLY running that play?" moment, and then the center snapped the ball to Beau. Maybe next year...

My congrats to your nephew,  Monroe.

Sure beats the heck out of my academic debut.  Scored an F on my first exam at OU.  Call it a case of thinking college would be the breeze that high school was.

I got a 3.88 in my first academic semester. Do I get any recognition? Got an A in Calculus.

I had a 3.8 after the first two quarters in 1979-80. Then met BobcatSquared, cc Cat and the boys of the "Crazy Train" and the long, inexorable decline began.

along the same lines that monroe began here, did anyone see the piece (either in USA or WSJ) on the training methods used by the 49ers that apparently have helped cut down on injuires?  The trainers put heavy emphasis on flexibility and stretching.  Its one of those things that if I were a coach, I'd have my trainer on the phone to the 49ers the day after the Super Bowl to learn more....

That's was great play - you wonder how it could ever work, yet amazingly it always did. They made it illegal, though, so you'll never see it again (except in replays). I see every reason, however, to sometimes run a direct snap the the running back on occasion.

Age is leaving my memory a haze...but didn't we used to run a direct snap to a wide receiver in motion...receiver catching it behind center as he ran from one flank to the other....a running play to the wide receiver?!

That's okay; but let's go direct snap to running back...maybe with two running backs in the backfield.  Hello at the goal line!

Me, I like a jumbo set.  Would be Lechner at guard, with best run blocking tackle, McGrath?, next best tackle at TE, Boykin on a wing, TT & Beau in the backfield. I have at least 5 ways to attack short yardage from this.
