Does anyone know if there are plans to remove the chair back seats that were added this year?  I know that there were numerous complaints about accessability to the aisle.  Because those seats are in a premium location, they could still charge the extra money for the location and still get rid of the seats.

Answer: Tower club.  Good seats available.  Best deal in college football.  Book it.

Not a fan of the seats, but I imagine that cost a bit to put in...so doubt they're going away.

Other good chairback options out there, though. I love being in the Phillips Club. Close to the action, comfortable seats and close enough to yell at the other team!

I'm not a fan of the Tower Club because of the atmosphere.  I'd gladly get rid of my chair back if allowed.  It's not necessarily the fault of the department, though.  The rows are too close together, so there is no room for chairs unless the entire section was torn down.  It is impossible to fix this without tearing down all the stands and rebuilding them to accomodate taller, fatter fans than we had 100 years ago.  Unfortunately, I fit into both categories.

Trying to figure out if this is a grammar thread candidate?

I say we just clear it down to the concrete and let people bring their own chairs. Whatever you bring when you buy your seats can stay in that spot all season with an appropriate cover. Have people dollying in leather recliners, bean bag chairs, inflatable couches, lawn chairs, chaises, fainting couches, Ottomans...

Pay an extra grand and you can bring in a Craftmatic adjustable bed.

And because the new seating arrangement would decrease capacity by about 10,000, demand for seats would be high.

Can this board seriously complain anymore? When it's not Pretzels or popcorn, it's seats and renovations, and whe you all get bored with that it becomes English class.

We complain because we care!

Seriously, though, I see your point. We are a bit of a complaint factory. All in all, we've got it pretty good and have some great teams to support.

There should never be an excuse for poor grammar and such by college educated fans. There's nothing wrong ever pointing that out (and I always welcome corrections to my own, as I'm not perfect, either.)

Everything else though...agreed, haha.

I'd agree if I was doing my quarterly reports, but heck, half the time I'm typing on a small keyboard during a break from work or visiting the Grandkid. Grammar on a message board is simply silly. But to each his own.

You little people keep blocking our view and hurting our ears up in the Tower Club with your standing and flag waiving and yelling and carrying on.  Its getting quite frustating.

The Swankster is back at it!  He did not raise this question out of genuine curiosity, ignorance or even the impact it would have on him personally.  He simply wants to try and poke the anti-athletic department and AD, anti-football bear.  The athletic department is obviously not going to remove the chairbacks.  It makes no sense from a time or resource standpoint and he is smart enough to know that.  He is just raising an "innocent" question to stir the pot with the people that complained about it.  He is the guy that probably complained about the hard, uncomfortable benched in the stadium until he was blue in the face and the athletic department decided to make an upgrade.  Then once the upgrade is made he leads the charge in complaining about it or because it does not actually impact him, reminding people that have forgotten about it so they complain about it.  He is a thorn in the side of everything Ohio Athletics because the AD doesn't stroke is giant ego and cater to his every need and desire.

Wrong on all accounts voice.  It does impact me because I do sit in those seats and have listened to the complaints of fans such as 695 and others about the accessibility issues since those seats were installed.  I have also as have others shared those concerns with the athletics officials.  I have no problem paying the extra $50 per seat for that prime location.  What I do have a problem with is having to move out into the aisle every time a fellow fans wants to head to the restroom or concession stand.  At one game alone the four people closest to the aisle had to get up and move out into the aisle 17 times.  Before the seat backs were installed you just stood up and the fan passed.  If that is an irrational concern, so be it.  It is a major inconvenience.  I know I could move but seats on the 50 15 rows up are great seats.

What are the benefits of the tower club (other than a great view I imagine)?  I have Phillips Club seats but may consider an upgrade at some point in the near future.  I am currently around the 40 yardline.  If I were to move upstairs, I imagine that I would have to start at the ends and work my way towards the middle over time, correct?

Alan:  I understand your concerns, but there are drawbacks to everything.  I sit in the Tower seats, which are premium, but up there the rows are somewhat closer together and access is also an issue.  Moreover, I sit in the front row of the Tower seats, which you might think would be great, but due to the configuration of the access rows, everyone uses the front row as an aisle to move from section to section.

Bottom line, nothing's perfect.  Let's be happy that we have an athletics administration that is truly trying to improve the overall experience and enhance the visibility of our program.  That's what's most important in my mind.  That and finding a cure for baldness.

Excellent points SBH and yes the overall fan experience inside the stadium has improved.  After the survey was conducted and the seats were put in, I saw the purpose as more of a revenue enhancer than a comfort issue.  If comfort is/was truly the purpose then that has been a failure and can easily be corrected while still mainting the revenue enhancement.  I now pay $100 a seat for each of my basketball seats.  Nothing changed - in fact the left arm rest on my seat is actually broken which is a good thing because it makes it easier to get into the aisle.  The point is that in this day and age fees for choice seats are a reality.  We could still keep charging the $50 for the football seats and take out the chair backs.

As for the baldness issue, move over to Goodyear Heights.  Everyone has hair there.  It must have been the effect of all of that smoke from the rubber companies blowing that way for so many years.

I've been complimentary of the effort, but just don't like the seats.  I'm 6'4" so I suffer from the reduction in legroom these seats have generated because they had to be put on a narrow bleacher.  I would much rather have a flat back support added to the bleachers (like the Phillips Club) all the way across the section than the individual chair.

The Tower Club has better seats, is covered from the weather (most seats), and has upgraded restroom and concession facilities.  I don't have seats there for two reasons.  First, the crowd is quite subdued.  Our group does our best to create a home field advantage.  We stand and cheer loudly, something that is sporadic at best in that section.  I know I'll annoy the people up there and they will annoy me.  Second, we have a lot of younger people in our group of 20-30 at every game.  The kids like to move around in their seats and go back-and-forth to the hill a few times during the game.  There is no way to get from the Tower Club to the inside of stadium without going in and out of Gate 1.  It's not safe for the kids to be outside the gate by themselves where we cannot see them coming and going.

I may move to the Tower Club at some point in my life, but I would imagine that move would coincide with my receipt of a handicap hang tag for parking.

Actually 695, there is access from the Tower Club seats to the stadium.  The aisles around the 20 yard line on each side go straight up into the Tower section.

The seats are awesome.  The concessions and bathrooms are awesome.  However, it is a seriously subdued fan base.  I purposefully sit in the very last row.  I'm sure I'd get asked to sit down frequently if I did not.  For the week night games I am usually alone for the second half (toddlers off to bed time with my awesome wife) and I often end up going down to the non-tower seats to feel more invovled in the action.

So, there are plusses and minuses for the Tower Club.

As for the seat backs issue, I'd prefer the Phillips section setup as well.  But, I'm also tall like 695 and Alan.

Well, since we're solving problems:  Don't sit inside in the Tower; get out in the open where your HUGENOISE (695!) can win the game for us.  If you're tall, come to the games shorter so the leg-room inconvenience is not a factor.  Also, the seatbacks are preliminary to a sort of temporary second deck for sellouts--there will be additional seating capacity via seats 'laddered up' off the framework of each of the chair backs.

What seatbacks are we talking about?  I've been in the Tower Section for 20 years and enjoy it thoroughly.  I sit with thre St. Clairsville group.  We high-five, yell and stand quite a bit.  You wouldn't call us laid back.  The conveniences of the section overcomes over any lack of boisterousness (is that a word?).
