Doubtful. People will be high on UoL unlike being down on PSU.

Louisville has a legitimate shot at starting next season in the top 5.  This will be a tough, tough game.  I'm excited to make the trip, and then to read about how we should fire Solich after we likely lose.

Given the seniors returning on offense I expect Onio to represent well.  Seems Solich's teams have a rotation of the weight of seniors.  2012 was senior heavy on defense.  2013 will be senior heavy on offense.  Throw a break or two Ohio's way from defense and special teams and Ohio takes Louisville.  Give Louisville those breaks and it will be like the Bama/ND for Louisville.

I have no doubts that Solich will have a great gameplan in place, and we'll roll into Louisville and play a tough game.  I'm not making the trip down there because I want to watch us get destroyed.  (Sorry perimeter, I know that's what you think I'm about.)

But make no mistake, this is not the 2013 equivalent of Penn State.  Louisville has a coach who just had his pick at a few jobs that most perceive to be much better than Louisville, and he stayed.  His team, which returns a great amount of its' starters, just manhandled a pretty darn good Florida team.  I would imagine the fanbase will be as riled up to start next season as they ever have been.  All things considered, we face a very tough task, which is all I said in the first place (plus some sarcasm on how our dilusional fanbase will then call for Frank's head).  We'll likely be a double digit dog in this one.  Should be fun, but I'd consider a respectable showing and getting back to Athens without 2 season ending injuries a success.  Like basketball, I want a MAC Title, which we haven't had since the 60s.

Every year is a new year. Couple this with it being the 1st game of the year, and Louisville not getting up for us, and Ohio plays well and there you have it "All the makings of the perfect storm".
No one picked us to beat PSU, and we did.
The guys will all be up for this game.
We need to have all men of deck for this one

Lots of people picked us to beat Penn State. Probably not a majority, but it wasn't THAT unexpected.

Louisville always seems to have trouble vs. non-AQs early in the season.  This year, they won at FIU by 7.  Last year, they lost to FIU and Terd at home and beat Murray St by only 12.  In 2010, they beat Eastern KY by only 10 at home.  Seems they're slow in getting their act together.  Might be different with Bridgewater and Strong together for another year, but Ohio always seems to be ready that first game.  Should be a good 'un.

I agree with C Money; going into the Penn State game I gave Penn State a slight edge but thought Ohio had a good shot at winning the game.

That being said, at first blush I would have to think that Louisville will be heavily favored.  They will open the season in the Top 10 most likely and Charlie Strong's too good of a coach to have his team overlook the 2012 Advocare 100 Independence Bowl champs!  I think Ohio will come into the game loose with a "nothing-to-lose" attitude though as they will be heavy underdogs.  IF they stay healthy through the summer and IF they play with nothing to lose, I think Ohio has a chance to pull off the upset.  I'm not predicting an Ohio win but I do expect Ohio to give Louisville a real good game of it.  I'm looking forward to that game!

I think they beat Rutgers 20-17.  Rutgers lost to Kent State.

I'm planning on being there, too.  I never go to a game thinking Ohio can't win.  I always root for them and believe in them, even in the toughest of games.  Many times I have to swallow bitter defeats, but then what I tend to remember are the glorious victories that I have witnessed in person . . . like beating Maryland, Kentucky (twice), Pittsburgh, Penn State and many important MAC games over the years.  So, I'll go to L'ville expecting a win regardless of what the odds markers think and or what my colleagues here on BA think.  I'm an Ohio man through and through and my heart rules my head when it comes to my beloved Bobcats.  GO OHIO!

We have a few holes to fill for next year.  But we should be pretty good.  This will not be Louisville rolling over a bland, lifeless team.  NIU had little in the way of running game and their passing was not imressive vs. FSU.  kents offense didn't have much against Ark State.  OHIO will play.

Short of facing a really, really good defense, we will score.

I would be surprised if Louisville is ranked outside of the top 10, and if we do pull off a miracle I we would be in consideration of top 25 if not receiving lots and lots of votes.

These are the types of road games we should be playing.  A loss wouldn't hurt our 'image' at all (excluding a blowout).  A win though, immense upside.

This game should be in the discussion of being moved up to the first Thursday night kickoff on ESPN - one can hope...

Always have faith in the Bobcats, but this game could get ugly.  Teddy Bridgewater is most likely going to be the #1 or #2 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.  At this point, Clowney is the only guy I can see going ahead of him, depending on who's picking first.  Our secondary is going to have their hands full.  I was pretty optimistic about the Penn State game for a number of reasons, but this is a different beast.

Louisville is coming off arguably the biggest win in school history, has the best QB in the country, and will start out no lower than #10 in the country.  That stadium is going to be rocking, and the players won't be on some crazy emotional journey like they were at Penn State.  I think you have to go back to the Big Ben days at Fiami for the last time Ohio faced a QB of a comprable talent level.  I'd obviously love to win this one, but I'd be happy if we just keep it under two scores.

Hmm . . . with a healthy TT, we have the best QB in the country!

Edit: Their corners and safeties are going to have a difficult game with TT's ability to find the open guy and throw to a third or fourth read.

Gotta agree with Ozcat here. This is close enough that we could have a strong showing at the game.

I'm hoping for the same time slot as the Penn State game. Noon on ESPN with the first College Gameday of the season serving as our lead-in.

Although Coach Solich has proven more effective than Jim Grobe, their Ohio teams share at least one similarity: They play without fear or intimidation, nevermind the opponent.
