The Orlando Sentinel published its five MAC storylines for 2013 a couple weeks ago, and Ohio isn't mentioned.  They say Toledo, BGSUcks and Kent have the best shot at dethroning NIU.  Lots of pub for NIU and Lynch in the piece.

Some of those services will have hard time figuring "returning starters" for Ohio. For example, how many "returning starters" does Ohio have at corner? Two? Four? Five?

We've been "the hunted" for a lot of years now (wow, that's weird to say!!)...

Nothing wrong with being seen as the underdog...though I think most publications will at least have us top 4 in the MAC. I'm more excited for this season than I was last season - and that's saying a lot!

I am cautiously optimistic about how much more depth we have in certain areas this year.  I know we lost some key players in positions but there was a lot of growth last year because of our injuries.

We definitely have a bit of a gauntlet to run at the end of the year with the Redchickens at home, @ Beefs and BG, then home against Can't.  Hopefully this year's UMass game to end the season will be a tune up game for the MACC. Something tells me whoever wins the East will have at least 1 or more conference losses.

Kent State has a tough schedule, I will be surprised if they are 3-4 after 7 games. They open with an FCS team but then host BG before playing 5 of their next 6 on the road, with the only home game being against NIU. The road games include LSU, Penn State, WMU and Ball State. Not easy.

By comparison, KSU's first 7 opponents won 57 games last year, Ohio's first 7 won 32.

One advantage Kent State does have is their last game is on11/19, a full week before NIU's and WMU's and 10 days before everyone else's. That's a huge advantage if they make it to Detroit.

With all due respect to OrlandoCat, is there a big MAC fan base in Orlando? I mean Kudos to them for the coverage, but sad that it is more than many MAC area papers.

And L'ville won 11 of those, so the next six won a total of 21 games.

I'm not sure about there being a fan base (most people down here from the midwest pull for the Ohio States, Penn States and Michigans of the world.) But there are a TON of alumni down here.  When I worked at Disney, my management team of 8 had 5 MAC schools represented and Mount Union to boot.  I believe there is a strong contingent of MAC alumni (Most notably OU) at the Sentinel as well.  There is also a large amount of people down here from the Midwest in general (I've been here 4 years have only met a handfull of people who were born in Florida, let alone Orlando).

I do think that the recent success of OUr program coupled with MACtion on ESPN has made more people aware of Ohio and the MAC in general.  When I wear OU gear, it is noticed and comented on a lot more around town.  Never underestimate the power of ruining peoples brackets.

It's true. When I was down in New Orleans there were a lot of people who knew about Solich and OUr program.

You know what Frank Solich likes most about coaching in the MAC? While he gets older, his coaching competition stays the same age, man.

The real O-H-I-O

This is awesome. I meant no disrespect to Orlando, I just found it pleasantly surprising that the local paper devotes that much ink to the MAC -- especially with so many Florida football schools.
