According to that article, Louisville was trying to schedule a home-and-home with Texas A&M that would take place starting opening weekend 2013. That's when they are supposed to be playing us.

Sounds like they're already penciling us in as an easy win. Hopefully we can get healthy and put a wrinkle in those plans

I don't know why Louisville is so concerned about beefing up the schedule. If they start in the Top 10 and go undefeated they shouldn't have a problem getting into the National Championship game. The AAC should be decent this year with Rutgers still in the conference. Tulane doesn't join until 2014.

Put on your AD's hat: What dollar amount is enough to agree to a buyout?  Or perhaps two return games in Peden down the road?

Wow, what would we have done? Great find. Soft. I understand perception. Hopefully reality is totally different. Say a little prayer these injuries get better in time for week one.

Let's hope they keep thinking of us as "soft."  A&M opens at home against Rice so if they wind up getting the deal with L'ville, maybe we could schedule Rice and get an 8th home game, plus buyout money from L'ville.

I wouldn't blame them for backing out. We are going to beat them.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Louisville didn't call us soft...that was the word choice of ESPN.

ESPN didn't say Ohio was soft either, they said a non-con schedule consisting of Ohio(9-4), Kentucky(2-10), FIU(3-9) and E. Kentucky(FCS) is soft. That is a true statement.

What I find amusing is the L'ville fans who are upset that  Bama and A&M wouldn't schedule a home and home with them. They can't believe another school would be afraid to play at the under dog's home stadium.

So L'ville would beef up its schedule by replacing the only winning team on its OOC schedule with another winning (albeit better rated) team.  Doesn't harden their schedule that much.  If they were really serious about scheduling this, they would've gone for the second week of the season; L'ville plays EKU and A&M has Sam Houston St.  But A&M wasn't that serious about it.  The rest of their OOC schedule has Rice, SMU & UTEP.  With their SEC schedule, they don't need an upgrade.

I agree with you here.  I mean lets be honest here, It doesn't matter if you have a cupcake schedule in the SEC. If you win out the OOC games and then win the SEC championship game, you're almost certainly going to go to the NCG anyway.

I say let them pay us what the agreed to amount was to break the deal as long as we can schedule someone else who is formidable. This way we could get a double payday if you will. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I would hold at $1MM now and they guarantee they will come to Peden prior to the year 2020.  Also, the gate from that game would go exclusively to OUr institution.  Aim high, it is they, not us who want out of the currently scheduled game.

First, NotGonnaHappen.  Didn't the article say that the idea drew some thought but was discarded?

Second, if we drop Lou then we probably replace them with someone really weak such as Bedford High School.  Not a good idea from perspectives of competitiveness, rankings and fan interest.

Plus, do you really want to drop Lou?  Do you really want to drop a roadie that is relatively nearby and which will be against a highly ranked opponent?  Do you really want to take off of our schedule a game in which TTettleton and TCarrie and Co. get their shot at making a mark on national TV?

Is that really what you want?

No where in my post did I say that I wanted out of the contract.  Quite frankly I do not want out of it.  What I was trying to say was that if we had to get out of the contract then make the terms very favorable in OUr benefit.  I thought that if a team was willing to pay $1MM now and guarantee a visit to Peden where we would get the entire gate would be a good thing IF we had to get out of the contract.  But no, I do not want to see us get out of that contract.  Nor do I believe Louisville will get out either.

79--I should have been clearer.  My thoughts were not meant for you specifically.  They were meant generally--for anyone who'd argue for dropping the game.

Would have been very interesting if this happened. Can't say I would have been too sad, as we... 1. Could have gotten a crap ton of $$$$ and 2. Would see our chances of an undefeated season skyrocket.

But now, I guess we'll just have to beat them!!

So what if we went undefeated? Even with Louisville our schedule is weak. North Texas and Austin Peay? We have enough of that kind of game with MAC bottom dwellers. At least play the Penguins of Youngstown State to make it a little interesting. Marshall is a solid game. Go on the road and play somebody.
