LOUISVILLE, Ky. - For the fourth straight year, the University of Louisville football team will open its season on national television as the Cardinals host Ohio on Sunday, Sept. 1 beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. It's the seventh consecutive year the Cardinals open the season at home.

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31, but was moved to accommodate ESPN's opening-week football schedule.

Louisville's appearance on ESPN will be the fifth nationally televised game slated this season. The Cardinals have a pair of Thursday night contests versus Rutgers and Cincinnati on the slate and two Friday night appearances versus Central Florida and Connecticut.

Ohio, under the direction of ninth-year head coach Frank Solich, return 16 starters from a team that went 9-4 a year ago and defeated Louisiana-Monroe 45-14 in the Independence Bowl.

The Cardinals and Bobcats will meet for the fifth time in school history with the series tied at 2-2, but it's the first encounter since the Bobcats defeated the Cardinals 22-15 in 1959.

And on this note, a bid of $51/night plus Priceline taxes/fees, will get you Saturday & Sunday at Galt House downtown. Bid Downtown, 3.5 stars, 8/31-9/2 at $51 per night and your total tab is about $125.

My guess is spread starts at +9 and trades down to +7.5 at kickoff.

Called the ticket office today. They go on sale on June 3rd. Only OBC members will be eligible to purchase.

As I remember the Galt House, it's old and was a little run down. The Hyatt is a better choice.

I am very familiar with The Galt House, and yes (in my opinion) it is a little old and run down.

There are some who still view it as a premier hotel in downtown Louisville, but I think this is more out of tradition. It is broken into two towers on separate sides of the street, one of which I do not think has been updated since sometime in the 70's.

It is not a bad place, just not the premier place some see it as. You might want to look into other options as well...

As far as hotels go the Ramada and Holiday Inn are within walking distance ( a good little walk) and there is a Super 8 within a stones throw of the stadium . My son is in the 110 and they plan on making the trip and so do I. I got my reservations and my game ticket I ordered on stub hub section 104 . Sections 101,102 and 103 are the visiting sections on the lower level and 201,202, and 203 on the upper section.

I am assuming there is a limit on the number of tickets OBC will sell to an individual member at events like this, right?

I checked the Louisville site, and single game seats and group pricing is not up yet.

It looks like some season ticket holders are already unloading on Stubhub. The cheapest seats are going for $27 in the upper deck.

They easily could have been towards the back of the Big East pack with a few unlucky bounces that ended up going their way. 3 of their 5 BE victories were by 3 points or less. Again we need to bring our A game but this matchup will be there for us to win!

The hype is a very good thing on OUr end. We may beat the team that is in the preseason spotlight. OHIO = BCS party crashers.

You know what Frank Solich likes most about coaching in the MAC? While he gets older, his coaching competition stays the same age, man.

Here's hoping Louisville 2013-14 is similar to WVU 2012-13. WVU was very average all season long, had a breakout game vs. Clemson in their bowl game and that's all anyone remembered. They were over-ranked and over-hyped all preseason because nobody remembered how average they were all season long, they just remembered the blowout victory over Clemson. We'll see if Louisville fits that Big East mold this season?
