The NFL draft has made me even more impressed with NIU's showing in the Orange Bowl.  Three of the first 25, and five of the first 42, players taken in this year's NFL draft were from FSU.  They include the QB (the only one taken in Rd 1), two DLs, an OL and a CB.  Despite all this talent on the other side of the ball, NIU trailed by only 7 after 3Qs.

Great point and so true!  FSU had Top 5 talent.  In fact, FSU may have had the best showing in the NFL draft among non-SEC schools.

Is that Kirk "Herbi" Herbstreet I hear still crying upon learning Mr Fisher would be selected number 1.  "No way a MAC Players could possible complete with those so called big boys?  BULL.      Oh how I would have loved to see his face when he learned this information.   haha.  I lost a lot of respect for him last year.

On the flip side..taking EJ at 16 was the worst pick in the draft.

I think it is a toss up between him and Wisconsin center/guard Travis Frederick.  Both are quality players but would probably still been available down the line.  My money is on Frederick to have a more solid NFL career, as most Wisconsin lineman do.

Yeah, he could be another Tebow.  But, you know, Buffalo's been searching for "the right QB" ever since Kelly retired 17 years ago.  They either get guys at the end of their careers (Flutie, Bledsoe) or guys who can't get a 90 rating.  They need a quality QB who'll stick more than three or four years.  Barkley might've been a better choice, but who knows.

I wasn't at all impressed by Barkley. Living in Buffalo, most folks are pretty happy that the Bills got EJ. Where they question the pick is WHEN he was taken (the thinking being that they could have traded down again in the first round or waited till the second round and still gotten him). I think its telling that Marone didn't want Nasib.
