In yesterday's mail I received a letter from Jim Schaus (dated May 25, 2013) updating the status of the IPF. The letter states the Design-Build project will be done by Turner Construction of Columbus with construction beginning next week.  It goes further to say the facility is scheduled to be erected during July, August and early September with hopes of having access for football by early December.  More of a complete occupancy will be available for all users at the end of January 2014.  Final completion to include landscaping and paving will conclude byJune 2014.

Day to day operations will be managed by the "Office of Studend Affairs".  The next sentence says, "Our two units share a number of synergies and maintain great working relationships."  I guess our two units is Office of Student Affairs and Athletics??  Don't know if there was such a thing as Office of Student Affairs in 1972.

Just wanted to share what I received.  I am excited for the upcoming footballl season and by the early success of football recruiting.  I can't remember any other time where we had perennial high expectations for our team.

I drove by yesterday and can't believe they STILL haven't started on any construction. Not even clearing a tree. Hope it's correct that the project starts next week, but goodness...this thing sure has been delayed.

Maybe they had to wait until the new turf in Peden was installed?  I don't know but it's my only guess.  I'm just ready to see SOME kind of progression on it.

A bear bones facility like this can be put up pretty quick. Glad to see that it will be largely up by the first home game when recruits are coming into town an available for use in December in advance of the bowl game.

Trees were removed yesterday, fences are coming down and project is picking up steam as we speak. Peden field replacement is finishing up this weekend also.

Guys, the building plans haven't even been approved yet according to a source who would know.

If that's true, I'm surprised the General Contractor has been named. I would assume multiple contractors bid on something, presumably a workable set of plans. Not good news.

I was told today by a reliable source that site soil removal will start by mid next week. The trees are down and chipped except for the logs and will be hauled away soon.

If they put up videos like this. Don't they have to get a move on?

This is a design build project.  As it was explained to us, the final plans have not been approved yet but should be by July 1.  Approval does include state agencies.

Considering the final approval hasn't been granted yet it hasn't stopped progress from being made. Site is mostly cleared and and soil has been stripped and stockpiled. The second grass field closest to the golf course has been re-plumbed so it can continue to be maintained as is since it will remain in tact. Property looks totally different now with the trees gone and most of the fences down. One thing that stands out now is the need for power washing and some painting on the outside of the east seating area. The look of the old dingy masonry will detract from the aesthetics of the new facility.
