They're begging for a call from the Ohio State licensing office.

My wife bought me one years ago and the shirt logo basically is an iron on picture.  I tried putting it on and it was completely uncomfortable.  The silk screen version as I have seen with somebody's avatar would be a nicer shirt. I do have some very nice intentions for the shirt in the future.

I did the design of those shirts originally (the green and white ones).  Was contacted by someone at Universitees about mass-producing them, but as someone else mentioned, they couldn't be done because of legalities.  However, I now work for a screen printing shop, so some may or may not become available in the near future.

Since this thread is about Anti-State apparel,  I think a shirt with a script Ohio on the front with the i dotted by either the paw print or attack cat with the message "Thanks for dotting our i" and on the back a script State without the T's crossed with the message "Don't forget to cross your T's"

I also think the 110 should give State's band a gift.  Next time we play at Columbus the 110 should present the script State to help eliminate any confusion between the schools.

If it's made, it has to go nationwide.  A&M has finished first in the most hated program polls nationally more than once.  It ain't just Rufus.

What exactly were the legal issues?  My father is an IP attorney and could maybe give you some professional insight.

I would imagine there are two different legal issues at play. The obvious one is with OSU for the use of Brutus on an unlicensed product. The other would be with the photographer who took the photo the design was based off of, and the news agency he/she is a part of. I remember Shepard Fairey had legal issues with the AP when he based the Obama Hope poster off of one of their images.

Man I'd love to own that shirt. It just gets at the core of the problem in so many ways.

OU didn't know -

I actually own that green and white shirt you designed. I've only seen it one other time out in public. It pretty much always gets a comment when I wear it. You did a great job. It's a piece of clothing I won't part with. Out of curiosity, how many did you make?

I made zero, so I'm guessing you probably got one of the bootleg ones off of Ebay?  There was some guy on there trying to sell them but I got Ebay to remove his account and a few other postings.

As Tyler said, the legal issues stem primarily from the representation of Brutus and the copyright of the photographer.  Universitees contacted the company that handles licensing for OSU and they said there was no way it would get cleared.

I might print some for myself, friends, and some attackers, but I can't print them in mass scale and sell them without getting sued.  Sucked too.  Literally in like two days of that mock-up being posted here, it was being re-tweeted, was on a couple different websites, and was all over facebook.  Based on all the people that said they wanted one, I could have ordered 500 and sold all of them instantly without pushing it or advertising, so I was pretty sure I was about to sell a ton once the initial ones got out there.  Oh well.  I guess I shouldn't have expected anything different.

I think the Script Ohio shirt could work with licensing issues.  As a program taking shots at State is a good idea for recognition.  Hopefully we can eventually start walking the walk that we are starting to talk.  Anything that brings awareness to the issue I think is valuable.  There is a shirt idea somewhere taking a shot at the people spelling out Ohio with there hands.  I just can't put it together yet.
