There be some trolls in those comments. While the Bleacher Report has a bias in favor of MAC teams, I'll take #23 any day. Now if we could only add 10k more seats.

Realistically where do you think we would rank? I would say between 50-75.

75, unless you start counting Texas high school fields

They're equating weak home opposition (34-52 combined last season) with a "tough place to play." When I think of a "tough place to play," I think of big, noisy, intimidating crowds and an overwhelming atmosphere. That's not Peden. With occasional exceptions (the Pitt game comes to mind) Ohio crowds quietly work their way into the game. Peden is nowhere near top 25 toughest.

I disagree, Peden can flat out rock. 20k Ohio fans that close to the field can be very loud. Not for every play, but when the game is in doubt, Ohio fans got the Cats' back.

Does the stadium really need to be loud and intimidating? Sure, that helps, but the bottom line is, does a team defend their home turf. At home, Ohio's record is:
2012 - 5-1
2011 - 5-1
2010 - 5-1
2009 - 4-2
2008 - 2-3
2007 - 4-2
2006 - 4-1
2005 - 3-2
Total - 32-13, 71.1%
Last 3 years - 15-3, 83.3%

I am quite certain that there aren't 74 teams out there with a better home record than this, and especially not over the last 3 years. Ask Temple, by the way, if Peden is a tough place to play? Ohio fans can get the job done when they are into the game.

Now, how about making 2013 the first year with an undefeated record at home?

BP, I agree that Peden gets going for certain teams (Temps, Terd, Fiami) but for most everybody else the crowd is pretty sedate unless the team causes some excitement or there's a big 3rd-down play. I've been at games where people in the west stands could almost hear Solich yelling at the refs (Louisiana-Laf comes to mind).

And LC, although the home record is impressive, the records of the teams we play at home usually aren't. For example, last year BG was the only home opponent that had a winning record (and we lost). NMSU & Akron each lost 11, EMU lost 10, Buffalo lost 8 and Norfolk St lost 7. It's that way most years, largely because of the nature of the MAC East.

I think that in their good years Terd can be a much tougher place to play simply because the crowd is so into the game from before the opening kickoff.

I'm not complaining. I really like watching games at Peden. I just don't think that, going into the season, it'll be much tougher for the likes of AP, North Texas or UMass than any other stadium they visit. (UMass is at Wis & Kansas St this year, and gets us on Black Friday.)
