I have to say I thought Frank appeared more positive and animated, almost more so than I remember him in past years.
Having watched him for 9 years now I must say he appeared to have more energy this time around. This tells me he is probably feeling real good about this team. Maybe better than any team he has fielded here at Ohio. Frank always seems to speak and use words that are general in nature without really divulging too much.
Call me optimistic and that I may be looking for more in his media remarks than are really there, but I don't think so.
We know what he has accomplished here.
We are now a consistent winning team and the sports world has recognized us as so.
If the talent can now improve then we can grow on the base that has been established.
At 69 Frank appears as a remarkable coach and a true mentor for seniors every where.

I agree! You can decide for yourself by viewing the full remarks here:

I agree. Frank had a lot of energy, but it was more than that. He looked and sounded genuinely proud of this particular team, their goals, their work ethic, and their leadership. He was respectful of all the teams that Ohio will play this year, and yet had confidence that his team will show up, week after week, and put out their best effort. I know that I am going to enjoy watching this particular group, too.

Now, how fast can those D-linemen grow up and become the tough, aggressive bunch that they will be by the end of the year?

Of the many great things about Coach, I think what I enjoy most is his ability to stay young by adapting.  He used to be run-centric.  Now, our passing conception is as good as anyone's now (without losing the run).

Coach enjoys it so much and is still open to learning, learning from anyone.  That is key.

As good as he looks now, he appears to have many, many years left.  We are very fortunate.

Here's another good video to watch, with commentary from Media pundits.

I noticed a higher energy during the Columbus caravan stop.

I'd almost categorize it as a comfort level with his constituency that he's probably not previously known.

The best days of Ohio Football are ahead of us. There's serious momentum within this program, and Frank Solich didn't have to create a "Bobcat-nese" language to make it happen. Frank has been able to grow this program organically. I believe he's showing more excitement because the hard part is over. The foundation has been laid to be a competitive team year in and year out. Now it's time for him to enjoy the fruition of his labor.

You know what Frank Solich likes most about coaching in the MAC? While he gets older, his coaching competition stays the same age, man.

The real O-H-I-O

Now that we are at the 1/2 way point through fall camp I have some additional observations based on interviews & reporters notes.
1) The program that Frank has established here is continuing to move the team forward i.e. Walk ons, early commits, improved talent, and player work ethic in the off season.
2) Coach's comments from fall camp on the "O" is extremely positive. So much so that they appear to be having difficulty toning down their excitement. 1 example is Beau's weight room work and speed has improved.
3) The injury situation from last year coupled with the strategy for the  1st 2 weeks of camp is giving the 2nd & 3rd teamers more practice. This improves our depth and goes a long way to demonstrate that unlike in years past there won't be as dramatic a drop off from 1st to 2nd team play.
I also believe that Frank and the coaches will be adding in some new wrinkles this year based on the improved talent on the team.
I continue to believe that Frank will be here as long as he wants. His legacy has been built here and will expand over the balance of his time at Ohio.
