It's after the deadline for NFL teams to get down to 75 and I haven't seen that any Ohio alumni have been cut.

I saw one blog predicting Landon Cohen would make Dallas' 53-man roster as the final D lineman, but another said Julian Posey might be on the bubble at Miami for the cut to 53 (Saturday).  Zastudil, Mitchell and Herman seem pretty safe, but Phil Bates didn't see much action last week and I haven't heard anything about Neal Huynh lately (Atlanta's down to 75 without cutting him).  LaVon's getting late-game playing time at Indy, but his future may be in doubt, given the suspension.

I saw that Bates has been taking snaps at FB. No, seriously.

Linemen usually go late in the cuts, teams need the depth for practice and last per-season game. Big week for some of these guys.

From the article:

It helps that Bates has been in the offense, and makes a habit of learning the entire offense and not just his responsibilities on any given play.

“I don’t study like one position, I try to learn the whole picture,” he said.

Wanting to be a QB has paid off for him in other ways.
