Bass was fantastic. I think Matt Waters and Ben Russell had their best games yet as Bobcats, too.

NO DOUBT BASS.

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

Yes--everyone.

Special teams advantage Ohio:  Carrie punt return, we scored a td on our kickoff!, and a couple of punts downed at their goal line.

Agree 100% AP. Individuals stepped up, but what it took to win included all three phases of the game and the coaching staff. We have a program that gives us an opportunity to prepare for and win big games. Below is a link to a pre-game article that appeared in the Charleston Daily Mail. It's clear to me that the Ohio program has earned the respect of Marshall's defensive coordinator (who was previously at Temple) and his unit.

http://www.dailymail.com/Sports/MUSports/201309120117?page=2&build=cache

LB Raheem Waiters sums it up nicely when referring to what Chuck Heater told his defensive unit:

"He said they're a team, they're a good 'team' team," Waiters said. "We have a lot of talent and we're really good in that aspect and we're coming together as a team now. They've been a team for a long time."

Matt Waters on Marshall's defensive coordinator:

"We saw that they were playing a lot of outside coverage on those guys and we felt like we could take advantage of it across the board. We've got great receivers and we had an idea and knew what they were doing. We've played that defense coordinator for years now. He was at Temple and now he's with Marshall so we've got a great idea of what they are doing and it feels pretty good to beat them again."

This couldn't be more fitting.  From the Phillips section, I could hear the Herd receivers coach telling his guys over and over early in the game   "37 can' cover you!",  "He can't run with you!", "Just block him out of the play!" and other little gems.  Partially thanks to their coach, I believe, by game's end they were simply hanging their heads.  Devin just overwhelmed them.

I've become a Bass fan. I didn't even know of him until he did a cartwheel vs Louisville. I like his attitude and spirit. It's what being a Bobcat is all about.

I remember Chuck Heater when he played for Michigan.  He has an impressive background having coached under the late Dave McClain, Earle Bruce, Lou Holtz and Urban Meyer.

He played a lot last year, alternating with Fisher and Wells. I became a fan of his last year because I never saw him miss a tackle. As a little guy, he needs to have great technique, and he does - no big sticks, just sure tackles. It's good to see than he can cover, too, and better to know he'll be around for 2 more years after this.

Some of Herdistan is mentioning OUr DB coach as a key to OUr victory.

Devin Bass and Travis Carrie may be the best combo of corners in the MAC, and could probably be up their for best out of any non-BCS conference

My game ball would go to Troy Watson. Essentially watched him every snap. I was very when he got the start. Kid played great.

The DBs did everything I hoped they would.  Cato got his yds, but the after-catch yardage was pretty negligible.  His only TD came when we had no pass rush and he was able to hold onto the ball until the cows came home.    The DBs were covering close and laying the wood on tackles.

Another youngster making his mark on the line--we have so many on both sides of the ball!
